Founded in 1898, The Country Club of Birmingham offers superior social and recreational services to its members and their families.
The country club is a place of comfort, friendship, and family. It's also an ongoing work of architectural and interior design excellence that blends the best of historical precedent with a quiet elegance, and refined style. Such a place doesn't just happen, but rather evolves. In the case of the club, that includes three homes over the years - the original north Birmingham driving club site, a new location in 1904 in the Lakeview area, and finally its home in Mountain Brook, where it is enjoyed today.
If you enjoy being outside, meeting new people, and working in a fast paced environment this may be a job for you.
BAGROOM DAILY CHECKLIST
Uniform:
Red CCB polo shirt tucked in
Belt
Khaki shorts or pants
Clock in, radio check, and name tag on right side on chest even with CCB logo
Print today’s tee sheet and put on clipboard on podium.
Pull clubs on tee sheet (make sure to zip bags and CHECK CLUBS for cleanliness!!!)
Learn member names as best you can.
Pull at least 10 empty carts to front parking lot, depending on how busy we are that day, and a few by the bag room for called bags. Make sure all carts are fully stocked and prepared:
Pencils, towels, pin sheets, and tees will be stocked on a table coming out of the barn
Be sure the podium is stocked with clean towels for walking members
We will also be sanitizing carts with a disinfectant for the foreseeable future. Use one ounce of the concentrate and mix it in with one gallon of water. This concentrate is very expensive so please do not use more than one ounce! After you spray the cart down, wait five minutes for it to disinfect and then wipe the cart down. Do not allow anyone to take the cart while it is being disinfected.
ABSOLUTELY NO EARBUDS AT ANY TIME!!
SETTING UP THE PRACTICE FACILITY:
Practice tee MUST be open 30 minutes before tee times begin
Set up the chipping green
Place 4 baskets surrounding the chipping green
Find fresh grass to place each basket
Avoid yesterday’s divots
One basket must be placed at the bunker
Place one basket on the fairway area
Setup the pyramids on the inside, back of the rope line in the morning three large steps or four normal steps apart. (Right now we will be placing pyramids 5 steps apart to social distance.)
Place Flag D GPS units on the bag stand magnets and reset them for the day with a tee. (The bag stands should be evenly spaced out the whole length of the range.)
Bring the picker from the cart barn and hook it up to the ball picker.
On Tuesday and Friday mornings, regardless of how much gas is in the picker, drive it to maintenance before opening the range and fill it with gas.
Mid-day to closing shift:
Upon arrival for you midday to closing shift:
While walking to the bag room, check the parking lot, staging area for number of carts, and organization
While getting your radio and nametag, look at the tee sheet from the morning and afternoon
Even before you are on the clock, keep your eye on the lot, MEMBERS DO NOT
KNOW IF YOU ARE ON THE CLOCK OR NOT
Clock in, and look at tee sheet, make sure all bags are in the correct place
Drive up to No.1 West and look down No. 18 green and fairway to see if members are coming in
Always be checking to see if members need any help in front of the golf shop or in the parking lot
Make mental notes of the tee sheet and physically touch every bag in the staging area
Ensure the correct name is on the correct cart according to the tee sheet
Ensure the clubs inside of the bag are all clean
If someone is on the tee sheet and you cannot find their clubs check in the bag room and double check their bag spot. We all make mistakes, NEVER ASSUME.
Every single bag should have a CCB green bag tag of some sort
Bring back bags to storage if they have already played

Make sure we have clean balls and chipping green is picked
Check to see that baskets were not set up on yesterday divots
Check to see if ball room is clean
Throughout the Day….
Meet and greet ALL members!!!
When we greet members:
Be genuine
Get out of your cart to greet members. It lets them know that you want to help
It is ok to engage in small talk with the members. Ask how they are doing or maybe build a conversation on the weather and overtime you will be able to develop a friendship with our members. Some are friendlier than others.
IF YOU DON’T KNOW SOMEONE, INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Whenever we greet someone, make sure we follow up and get his or her clubs to the staging area in a timely manner.
SMILE; let our members and guests know that you enjoy serving them.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY!!! Make sure your team is always aware of where you are and vice versa so that we can assist one another. ALWAYS CALL FOR ASSISTANCE
BEFORE YOU POTENTIALLY GET OVERWHELMED!!
Someone should always be at the podium! Never leave podium unattended!
Always ask members if you can assist them in any way.
The practice facility from the top of the hill can be the most appealing thing members see all day
The chipping green and tee should be checked constantly
If you are assigned range for the day, continually monitor chipping green for balls. Reset baskets and fill pyramids back up as needed. Pick up tees from practicing players. Service as required.
Range Staff
There should always be someone on the picker- if there is not you will fall behind and not have enough golf balls.
The other person on the range should be washing balls, stacking pyramids and cleaning members clubs if the first two tasks are done.
If there are balls on the short game area it needs to be cleaned. Use the metal tubes to pick up balls. Place the metal tubes back on their stand when you are done.
Closing Shift Procedures
Practice Facility
Practice facility is always open except the night before the club is closed, (usually)
Sunday unless a holiday is involved. That night the practice facility hard closes an hour before sunset so that the range can be cleaned picked for mowing the next day.
Start shutting down the practice tee based on sunset time and what part of the range is unoccupied.
Pick up all remaining tees that practicing players have used and return to tee baskets (if usable) or dispose of damaged unusable tees.
Close chipping green. Make sure all golf balls are out of holes and the hill is cleared.
Chipping green balls should be washed daily.
When running the picker on normal days strive to have target greens and surroundings picked, also bunkers picked clean.
Wash ALL dirty golf balls.
At night, the bunkers need to be picked CLEAN- this means no balls in the bunkers.
You are not finished on the range at night until you have at least 30 baskets of clean golf balls in the ball room.
The range needs to be clean picked on Sunday nights, this means NO balls should be anywhere on the range- including the bunkers or along the nets.
