Summary of Work
As an Environmental Manager for the Groundwater Program in the Water Quality Division, you will be part of a team that protects and improves ground water quality for all uses by assessing the water quality through sampling, data analysis, and monitoring activities, while providing oversight of ground water remediation projects.
In this role, you will:

Coordinate and oversee activities completed in conjunction with the Groundwater Protection programs, such as Underground Injection Control (UIC) Source Water Protection, and Ambient Groundwater Monitoring.

Provide technical oversight of staff activities related to contaminant releases.

Serve as the point of contact for reviewing and developing Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and Sampling Analysis Plans (SAPs).

Maintain clear and effective communication with local, state, and federal ground water partners (e.g., NRCS, NDDWR, MPCA, US EPA).

Provide technical reviews of permit applications and data summary reports, including Phase I and II investigations, UIC and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) permits.

Assist program staff with acquiring supplies and equipment used in sampling ground water sources.

Respond to inquiries regarding environmental issues related to ground water.
To succeed in this position, you should be able to apply ground water and geology knowledge in areas such as ground water protections, use ground water models to support planning efforts, and write clear and accurate technical or scientific reports and permits. You should also be skilled in collecting and interpreting ground water quality data and comfortable delivering environmental information to a variety of audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences and five years of related experience, which must have included project management or administration work experience.
