Position Summary
Under the direction and guidance of the executive director, the Program and Affiliate Support Manager supports NAMI Idaho’s Model B Affiliates. Model B Affiliates are unincorporated local chapters of NAMI that operate as programs of NAMI Idaho.
The Program and Affiliate Support Manager is responsible for support of the Affiliate work in their respective regions, fostering a cooperative environment among and within Affiliates and ensuring compliance with NAMI Standards of Excellence. The position requires strong management skills, collaboration, and community engagement to help Affiliates set goals, achieve measurable impact, and work toward shared regional goals.
The Program and Affiliate Support Manager also nurtures the development of new programs in communities served by Model B Affiliates, supporting the launch of new NAMI On Campus high school and university clubs, and other NAMI programming as supported by NAMI Affiliates and their respective steering committees.
The position reports to the Executive Director and works in collaboration with local Steering Committees to foster inclusive mental health programs, strong organizational infrastructure, and sustainable funding strategies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Management
● In collaboration with Model B Steering Committee Leadership and NAMI Idaho’s executive director, provide support and performance oversight for affiliate volunteers and steering committees.
● Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and evaluation of Affiliate personnel (staff and volunteers as appropriate) to ensure quality and consistency across all regional activities.
● Support Steering Committee efforts to develop and manage annual Affiliate budgets to be approved by the NAMI Idaho board.
● Support Steering Committee efforts in planning, goal setting, workload prioritization, professional development, program development, and evaluation.
● Foster a team culture rooted in accountability, equity, collaboration, and mutual respect.
● Resolve personnel issues and conflicts in coordination with NAMI Idaho Executive Director per the NAMI volunteer code of conduct, and conflict resolution policies.
● Ensure all Affiliate work aligns with NAMI Idaho’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
Affiliate Support, Capacity Building, and Program Development
● Unify and align regional efforts to strengthen NAMI’s presence within the region.
● Foster communication and collaboration among Steering Committees, volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders.
● Support Affiliates in developing and executing measurable strategic plans in line with NAMI Idaho’s strategic plan.
● Provide guidance on operational decision-making and local program needs.
● Ensure ongoing delivery and quality of NAMI signature programs (classes, support groups, and presentations, whether delivered in-person or virtually).
● Identify barriers to service delivery, especially in rural and underserved communities.
● Support efforts by steering committee members to recruit, retain, and support volunteers, instructors, and staff.
● Maintain clear, consistent communication with Affiliates and NAMI Idaho leadership.
● Streamline and standardize technology, communication, and record-keeping systems.
● Identify internal/external issues that may affect Affiliates and communicate those to NAMI Idaho.
● Travel within the region to support Affiliates and the building of external relationships.
Community Relations and Communications
● Support affiliate efforts to promote NAMI through public events, outreach campaigns, and civic advocacy, representing NAMI at local coalitions, partnerships, and health-related networks.
● Coordinate culturally responsive outreach to engage underserved communities.
● Ensure consistent, inclusive, and culturally relevant messaging across newsletters, social media, websites, and other communications.
● Increase diverse participation in NAMI training and support programs.
● Conduct strategic outreach in rural areas to increase program accessibility.
● Provide weekly status updates on affiliates to the Executive Director.
Fund Development
● Support Affiliate Steering Committees in efforts to lead the design and implementation of fundraising strategies and donor engagement, in line with NAMI Idaho practices.
● Support the application for and management of grants and contracts that support the affiliates’ mission, functions, and other related activities.
● Support the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with funders, sponsors, advisors, and volunteers.
● Represent NAMI Idaho and the affiliate at community partner functions, events, NAMIWalks, and other fundraisers, engaging local volunteers in this work whenever possible.
● Provide regular financial and progress updates to NAMI Idaho leadership.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years previous nonprofit program experience highly desirable.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Zoom.
● Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and solid grasp of financial management and reporting.
● Demonstrated ability to managing volunteers.
● Self-starter capable of working independently. Strong ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple tasks, report to objectives, and work efficiently within deadlines.
● Ability to communicate professionally with individuals and agencies and handle confidential/ sensitive information.
● Understanding and accepting of individuals and families whose lives are affected by mental illness.
● General knowledge of mental health and addiction treatment and support systems.
● Ability to listen empathetically, support, and offer appropriate assistance to individuals and family members.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and unreached populations.
● Ability to have a flexible schedule and work evenings and/or weekends.
● Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
● Strict adherence to professional boundaries.
● Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
● Valid Idaho Driver’s License and reliable mode of transportation.
● Personal lived experience with mental illness is welcomed and valued.
● Ability to travel and work remotely with minimal supervision.
Pay: $53,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
