Position Title: Insulation, Carpentry, Maritime
Position Type: Full Time, Non-exempt
Rate: $25.00+ DOE
Schedule: Mon-Fri 6:45am-3:15pm, 30 min unpaid lunch
Overtime: Required as requested by management
Probationary Period: 90 Days

Position Summary
WCI is actively seeking Marine Insulators ranging from entry-level technicians to experienced senior technicians and team leads. This position supports both in-shop fabrication and on-site installation work across vessel types and shipyard environments.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated to build or expand a maritime career specializing in insulation systems—including thermal, fire, sound, and anti-condensation applications. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to learn company-specific techniques, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Technicians are expected to arrive prepared each day with appropriate tools, work attire, and PPE, and be ready to meet daily production and installation goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Install a variety of marine insulation systems, including:
- Sock-sewn insulation
- Hull board
- Exhaust lagging
- Closed-cell rubber
- Fiberglass pipe wrap
- Construct and install exhaust lagging based on technical diagrams
- Layout and install insulation pin patterns using CD (Capacitor Discharge) welding equipment
- Perform shop-based fabrication and light manufacturing in WCI’s pad shop
- Execute insulation installations on fishing vessels and at local shipyards and repair facilities
- Assist lead technicians with project execution and workload management
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding priorities, timelines, and quality standards
- Follow all company safety protocols and ensure compliance on job sites
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in marine insulation or related trades preferred (training available for entry-level candidates)
- Ability to read and work from diagrams and layout plans
- Experience using or willingness to learn:
- Industrial sewing machines
- CD pin welders
- Standard shop and hand tools (grinders, box cutters, tape measures, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Work Environment & Requirements
- Work is performed both indoors (shop environment) and outdoors (vessels, shipyards, docks)
- Frequent use of hand and power tools including grinders, vertical band saws, and welding equipment
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the job (standing, lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces)
- Must obtain in-house Forklift Operator Certification
- Must adhere to all PPE and safety requirements
