Full Job Description

Downing Displays is a leader in the trade show industry. We are uniquely positioned in the creative marketplace with diverse experience in the trade show industry. Downing Displays has been offering unsurpassed services for the past 50 years in the design and fabrication, managing and storing as well as installation of creative displays and fixtures.

Downing Displays is seeking a CNC Router Operator to join our team in our Milford, OH office. The CNC Router Operator is responsible for preparing and operating the CNC router equipment to produce high-quality parts for trade show exhibits and displays. This role takes VCarve files and generates the proper tool paths for a Rotech 5' x 10' CNC router table while supporting the fabrication team with general shop and exhibit assembly work.

Responsibilities of the CNC Router Operator

Receive VCarve files and prepare them for CNC cutting.
Generate and verify tool paths for a Rotech 5' x 10' CNC router table.
Load materials, set up jobs, and safely operate CNC routing equipment.
Review files and cut plans for accuracy prior to machine operation.
Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe CNC work area.
Communicate with the fabrication team regarding materials, parts, and production schedules.
Assist with general fabrication and shop duties as needed.
Support the assembly of trade show exhibits and displays.
Handle materials, hardware, and finished components safely and efficiently.
Contribute to keeping projects on schedule and production moving smoothly.

Qualification and Skills for the CNC Router Operator

Basic computer literacy required.
Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and production files.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to measure and inspect parts accurately.
Ability to work safely around machinery, tools, and fabrication equipment.
Experience working with wood, plastics, metals, and composite materials commonly used in exhibits and displays.
Skilled in operating CNC equipment, power tools, saws, routers, and fabrication machinery.
Familiarity with carpentry, exhibit assembly, and modular display systems.
Understanding of AV integration, including lighting, monitors, and interactive exhibit components, is a plus.
Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate within a team environment.
Previous VCarve and CNC router experience preferred.
Experience with Syntec controllers preferred.
Experience operating plunge routers or similar woodworking equipment.
Trade show, exhibit, or display fabrication experience preferred.
Must be able to safely lift and handle full sheets of 3/4" plywood independently.
Ability to stand, bend, and work in a fabrication shop environment for extended periods.

High School diploma or equivalent
