American manufacturers move fast. The rubber industry that supplies them doesn't. We're fixing it. Modern Rubber Products will be the rubber manufacturer American manufacturing deserves.
About Us
Modern Rubber Products is a rubber fabrication and manufacturing company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We supply raw rubber materials, custom cut parts, and molded parts to everyone from major OEMs to small businesses to individual customers buying online. We use technology and automation to quote faster, produce faster, and make buying rubber simpler than it has ever been.
About the Role
Quoting is where it all starts. Every order begins with a quote, and how fast and how accurately we turn one around is often the difference between winning the job and losing it. We're looking for someone to own that process, turn customer drawings and specs into accurate, competitive quotes, and make our speed a real advantage in the market. This is a high-trust role with real ownership from the start, the kind of seat where a smart, driven person can take over a function that runs the business and grow well beyond it.
What You'll Do
- Own the quoting process. From the moment an RFQ comes in to the price that goes back out, this is yours. Review customer drawings, specs, and 3D models, determine the most efficient way to make the part, and build an accurate, competitive quote. Quoting is the lifeline of the business, and you're running it.
- Speed kills. Handle every quote with urgency and accuracy. We want to be the first quote in the customer's inbox, every time. Quote fast, follow up faster, and never let an opportunity go cold.
- Manage the pipeline. Log every conversation, every quote, and every contact in our CRM. Data drives how we make decisions and how we grow, and a clean pipeline is how we give American manufacturers the best rubber experience in the country.
- Become the rubber guru. We don't just want to be fast, we want to be the resource manufacturers turn to. Rubber is an afterthought on most projects, so when a customer brings us a part, it's on us to guide them to the best way to make it: the right method, the shortest lead time, the best price.
Who You Should Be
- Hungry and self-driven. You want to win and you want to build something. You handle problems on your own and ask for help when you actually need it.
- Obsessed with detail and accuracy. A wrong number in a quote costs real money. You catch your own mistakes before they ever leave your desk, on every quote, every time.
- Reliable under pressure. When you commit to a date, it happens. Customers plan around the numbers you give them, and you treat that as a responsibility, not a suggestion.
- Organized. You can run dozens of open quotes at once without losing track of a single one.
- Eager to learn the trade. You don't need to know rubber yet, but you pick things up fast and go deep. You'll learn our materials, our processes, and what makes a part well-made quickly enough to become the person customers rely on.
- Sharp with tools and technology. Comfortable in spreadsheets and software, and genuinely interested in using AI and automation to work faster and smarter wherever you see the chance.
- Always looking to improve. You don't accept "this is how we've always done it." If there's a faster, better way, you find it.
- Customer obsessed. You carry every customer's deadline like it's your own.
- Low ego. You do the unglamorous work because it needs doing, and "that's not my job" isn't in your vocabulary.
A technical or engineering background, whether a degree in a STEM or manufacturing field or equivalent hands-on experience, is a strong plus. We care more about how you think than what's on your transcript, but we're looking for someone sharp.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- 1 to 3+ years of experience estimating or quoting in manufacturing or a similar industry
- Experience with CAD or nesting software
- Familiarity with rubber or elastomer materials
- Any hands-on time in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, including internships or co-ops
- Experience using AI tools, scripting, or automation to make a real process faster or more efficient
