RESIDENTIAL ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE
GENERAL NATURE OF WORK:
This advanced position provides professional customer service and is responsible for clerical work involving the performance of complex clerical and data entry, billing operations, collections, and the making of frequent decisions in accordance with departmental policies, matters of policy, and new assignments usually consisting of statements of desired objectives. Limited supervision (including some training) may be exercised over others as needed or required. Duties involve substantial public contact and the handling of complaints or inquiries in positive professional manner.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Provides general and specific information to the public; receives customers and complaints in person, at drive through window, by telephone, or by email; giving information regarding records, accounts, regulations, and services.
Communicates effectively with everyone including, but not limited to, customers, attorneys, paralegals, real estate agents, engineers, architects, etc.
Greets customers/visitors with respect; directing visitors to appropriate areas and provides assistance as requested.
Assists customers with account setup including online accounts.
Types reports, correspondence, and other required material and maintains records and files.
Maintains billing records and processes bills for customers.
Receives, opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
Receives and processes all forms of payments and fees or other collections due the District.
Performs as the Billing Clerk and perform appropriate duties (posting payments, etc.)
May issue all types of permits including building and encroachment.
May assist with the training and/or limited supervision of other office personnel.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, policies, and equipment.
Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, and arithmetic.
Considerable knowledge of computer equipment and software for billing operations and Microsoft Office.
Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed departmental procedures.
Ability to transcribe, enter, or post data and other information.
Ability to provide assistance to customers in a courteous like manner, in person, on telephone, and email.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with thepublic and with other employees.
Ability to attend training and train others in advanced clerical, billing procedures, and other office practices.
Working knowledge of District policies and codes (particularly as they pertain to the billing procedures and issuing of permits and licenses).
REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Ability to type a minimum of sixty (45) words per minute.
A minimum of at least five (5) years of relevant experience in customer service, collections work or an equivalent amount of education and work experience.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
