Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Mudlogger / XRF / Robologger Technician to join our drilling operations team. This role is responsible for monitoring drilling parameters, analyzing geological samples, operating advanced logging equipment, and delivering accurate real-time data to support wellsite decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Mudlogging Duties
- Monitor and record drilling parameters (ROP, gas levels, pit volumes, pressures, etc.)
- Identify and document lithology changes using cuttings analysis
- Detect and report gas shows and abnormal drilling conditions
- Maintain accurate logs and daily reports for client and internal use
XRF Analysis
- Operate XRF (X-ray fluorescence) equipment to analyze elemental composition of samples
- Prepare and handle samples according to safety and quality standards
- Interpret geochemical data and integrate findings into geological reports
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of XRF equipment
Robologger Operations
- Operate automated robotic logging systems for sample handling and processing
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot minor technical issues
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and tracking of samples
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field preferred)
- Previous mudlogging, wellsite geology, or related oilfield experience preferred
- Familiarity with XRF technology and/or automated logging systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work in remote locations and harsh environments
- Willingness to work rotational shifts (including nights)
Skills & Competencies
- Basic geological knowledge (lithology identification, stratigraphy)
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Mechanical aptitude for handling lab and field equipment
- Good communication skills for reporting to clients and supervisors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions
- On-site at drilling rigs (land or offshore)
- Exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions
- Long shifts (typically 12 hours) on rotational schedules
- Compliance with all safety regulations and PPE requirements
