Position Overview
URGENTLY HIRING – DENTAL HYGIENIST
The Saint Francis Dental Clinic is seeking a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to provide preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare services for Indian Health Service beneficiaries within the Rosebud Sioux Tribe community.
This position focuses on culturally responsive care, patient education, preventive dentistry, and community outreach while working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Schedule & Coverage
Full-Time – 40 hours per week
Standard clinic hours
Occasional travel may be required to support school outreach programs, health fairs, or training opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, periodontal therapy, scaling/root planing, and radiographs
Conduct oral health assessments and periodontal evaluations
Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants
Provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and prevention
Maintain accurate same-day electronic dental records documentation
Coordinate referrals and follow-up care
Participate in school outreach, health fairs, and oral health promotion programs
Maintain compliance with CDC, OSHA, HIPAA, and South Dakota dental standards
Assist with quality assurance, infection control, and clinic readiness
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
Active, unrestricted Dental Hygienist license in any U.S. state
Current BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year experience in public health, IHS, or tribal clinic setting
Experience with Dentrix, Open Dental, or RPMS
Experience working with Indigenous or underserved populations
Training in trauma-informed care or motivational interviewing
