Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented CNC Mill Machinist Department Leader to oversee our machining operations. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of skilled machinists, ensuring precision manufacturing of complex metal components using CNC milling machines. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and safety standards while fostering a collaborative work environment.

This role directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties

Lead and coordinate daily operations of the CNC milling department to meet production goals and quality standards.
Supervise and mentor machinists, providing training on CNC programming, setup, and operation.
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications for precise manufacturing
Oversee machine programming, setup, calibration, and maintenance of CNC milling machines such as Haas 5 Axis & Fanuc-controlled equipment
Ensure adherence to safety protocols; conduct regular safety audits and promote a culture of safety awareness.
Utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions and quality

Skills

Proven experience in CNC programming and machining operations on CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T principles for accurate part fabrication
Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling, fixtures, electrical discharge machining (EDM)
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and general CAD/CAM programming tools for efficient manufacturing workflows
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to improve processes and reduce waste
Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment safely
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team effectively
Basic math skills for measurement calculations and process adjustments
