Full Job Description

Vigilant Healthcare Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Healthcare Engineer to join a collaborative and highly respected healthcare facilities team. This is a full-time onsite contract opportunity in El Paso, TX supporting complex healthcare facility operations, construction projects, commissioning, and infrastructure readiness.

You will serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical systems and central plant operations, helping ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, clinical reliability, energy performance, and long-term operational resiliency. This role is ideal for a seasoned healthcare engineering professional with deep experience in HVAC, central utilities, commissioning, water systems, and healthcare facility operations.

What You’ll Do

Provide mechanical engineering support for healthcare facility operations, construction, renovation, commissioning, and project closeout.
Oversee HVAC, hydronics, steam, condensate, refrigeration, medical gases, domestic water, RO/DI systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and Building Management Systems.
Review commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, functional testing, deficiency tracking, O&M documentation, and system readiness.
Support Utilities Management Plans, Water Management Plans, SOP development, training, and turnover documentation.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on project planning, design review, construction administration, equipment planning, and infrastructure improvements.

What We’re Looking For

15–20 years of healthcare mechanical systems operations and maintenance experience, including main plant systems.
10+ years of HVAC controls and mechanical systems experience in patient care settings.
Experience with commissioning, test and balance, central plant operations, boilers, chillers, water treatment, and healthcare ventilation requirements.
Familiarity with medical gas systems; ASSE 6030/6040 certification preferred.
Ability to support healthcare codes, facility standards, life safety requirements, infection control considerations, and technical documentation.

Schedule & Coverage

Full-time onsite opportunity.
Monday–Friday schedule.
Standard hours: 8:00 AM–4:45 PM.
No more than 40 hours per week.
Schedule variations may be considered when approved and when weekly hours are not exceeded.
No overtime is expected.
