Position: Laundry Attendant
JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for maintaining a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper/Assistant Executive Housekeeper
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following; however, other duties may be assigned.
1. Skillful and knowledgeable in the operation of all laundry equipment; able to perform simple troubleshooting on laundry equipment.
2. Sorts laundry by fabric and type that is transported to the laundry from the floors. Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap or other cleaning agent; dries laundry according to procedures paying attention to special requests from guests.
3. Sorts dried articles according to identification numbers or type; folds linen according to the policy/standard and places them in the proper storage bin.
4. Stock housekeeping carts as necessary.
5. Keeps an eye out for worn, spotted, or torn linen that needs to be removed from inventory. Mends torn articles when necessary; notifies supervisor when items need to be discarded.
6. Keeps dryer lint traps clean according to the policies set forth.
7. Must be aware of the risk of fire and take all precautions to maintain a safe environment.
8. Keeps work area clean, uncluttered, and well organized.
9. Assists management in maintaining the linen inventory.
10. Participates in accident/loss prevention programs; adhere to health/sanitation, OSHA, and standard operating procedures to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
11. Comply with attendance rules and be available for work on a regular basis in uniform with nametag.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to communicate in English; self-starting personality with an even disposition; maintain a professional appearance at all times; can communicate well with guests; must be willing to” pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player; knowledgeable regarding operation of the laundry equipment; ability to stand at workstation for up to 6 hours per shift; the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; must be able to push and pull laundry carts up to 100# throughout the shift; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Safety and Security
The safety and security of our guests and associates is of utmost importance. Every associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects, using chemicals and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
