Position Summary
Wesleyville Baptist Church is seeking a spiritually mature, energetic, and compassionate individual to serve as our Part-Time Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry. This individual will provide leadership, vision, and coordination for ministries involving children and youth of the church and surrounding community. The Director will work to develop meaningful relationships with children, teenagers, parents, volunteers, and families while helping foster spiritual growth through biblically grounded programming and Christian fellowship.
This is a part-time ministry position averaging approximately 15 hours per week.
Accountability and Relationships
The Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry shall:
- Report directly to the Pastor and the Christian Education Board
- Work cooperatively with the Sunday School Superintendent and church leadership
- Collaborate with church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and parents
- Support the overall mission and ministry vision of Wesleyville Baptist Church
Primary Responsibilities
Children’s Ministry Development
- Develop, organize, and lead a regular weekly ministry program for children of the congregation and surrounding community
- Create a welcoming, safe, Christ-centered environment for children and families
- Plan engaging activities that encourage spiritual growth, biblical understanding, fellowship, and outreach
- Encourage participation from children connected through the church’s preschool ministry and Sunday School programs
- Build relationships with children and parents through consistent communication and presence
Youth Ministry Development
- Develop and lead a weekly Junior High and Senior High youth ministry program
- Provide biblically based teaching, discipleship, encouragement, and fellowship opportunities for youth
- Foster meaningful relationships with students and families
- Create opportunities for outreach, service projects, fellowship events, retreats, and spiritual growth activities as feasible
- Encourage youth participation in worship, church life, and service opportunities
Volunteer Development and Leadership
- Recruit, train, organize, and encourage a core group of adult volunteers to assist with children’s and youth ministry programming
- Provide direction and support for volunteers serving within ministry programs
- Help ensure appropriate child safety and volunteer screening procedures are followed in accordance with church policies
- Encourage church-wide involvement in supporting children and youth ministry efforts
Sunday School Collaboration
- Work in conjunction with the Sunday School Superintendent to help foster growth and vitality within the church’s Sunday School ministry
- Assist with identifying ministry needs, curriculum support, outreach opportunities, and family engagement
- Encourage participation and continuity between Sunday School and weekly children’s/youth programming
Vacation Bible School Support
- Assist in the planning, coordination, promotion, and implementation of Vacation Bible School as time and availability allow
- Support volunteer recruitment and family outreach efforts connected to VBS
Additional Expectations
- Maintain regular and reliable communication with the Pastor and Christian Education Board
- Provide periodic ministry updates and reports to church leadership
- Uphold the beliefs, values, and mission of Wesleyville Baptist Church
- Demonstrate Christian character, integrity, and professionalism in all ministry relationships
- Be actively involved in the life and worship of Wesleyville Baptist Church
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear Christian testimony
- A heart and passion for ministry to children, youth, and families
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to recruit, encourage, and work alongside volunteers
- Previous experience working with children and/or youth in church, educational, or community settings preferred
- Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate ministry programming
- Agreement with the mission and ministry values of Wesleyville Baptist Church
Schedule and Compensation
- Part-time position averaging approximately 15 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling, including evenings and Saturdays and Sundays as ministry needs require
- Compensation to be determined based on experience, qualifications, and church budget approval
Mission Focus
The Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry will help Wesleyville Baptist Church reach and disciple the next generation by creating meaningful opportunities for children and youth to grow in faith, build Christian relationships, and become active participants in the life of the church.
