Full Job Description

Job Summary
This role is more than reception—it is an essential part of ensuring the daily operations of the school run smoothly and with the highest standard of excellence. The Receptionist is responsible for creating a warm, respectful, and organized environment for students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will combine outstanding customer service, professional work ethic, and great time-management skills. This position oftentimes includes performing ad hoc administrative duties as needed. Occasional obligations outside of the normal school hours are required, such as school events. This employee in this position will need to be flexible in day to day duties and assisting in all operations of the school. Please note: This is a 10-month position aligned with the school calendar, generally running from late August through the second week of June. Employees are not scheduled to work and are not compensated during the summer months when school is not in session.

Duties

Serve as the welcoming face and voice of the school, providing a polished first impression for parents, students, visitors, and vendors
Communicate with professionalism, warmth, and discretion across all interactions—by phone, in person, and in writing
Uphold the school's mission and values by fostering an environment of respect, trust, and confidentiality
Maintain an efficient and professional reception area that reflects the standards of the school
Serve as a reliable source of information and support for parents, faculty, and staff, directing inquiries to the appropriate departments as needed
Coordinate front office organization, including maintaining exception lists and preparing materials for new and returning students (labels, back-to-school packets, carpool placards)
Monitor daily weather forecasts to determine indoor or outdoor recess and communicate decisions to staff via email in a timely manner
Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day front desk operations

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including discretion in handling sensitive information
Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to customer service excellence and community engagement
One (1) or more years experience in an administrative support role
Ability to obtain required school clearances and pass a drug screen and TB test

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Full-time, on-site with regular hours 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Flexibility required for occasional evening school events
Daily interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors
Regular movement throughout the building, including frequent walking and use of stairs
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for daily tasks and materials
