The Position
The Courtroom Judicial Assistant for In-Courts will provide advanced clerical support to the judicial officer in the courtroom. Responsibilities include preparing the courtroom for daily proceedings, ensuring necessary case files or supplies are available, opening all computer applications, performing microphone tests, and preparing the jury room if required. You will prepare logs/tag reports and other forms used in the courtroom, make sure all parties are present and connect telephonic or video parties, if necessary, closely monitor the recorder at all times during proceedings, prepare and distribute court orders and judgments in the courtroom, calendar future court hearings and result hearings.
This position will also be responsible for maintaining witness lists and exhibit lists, data entry in the case management, processing documents in the electronic file system, and securing the courtroom and any exhibits at the end of the day. Out-of-court duties will include, but not limited to, importing documents in the electronic file system, docketing non-motion paperwork filed in open court into CourtView and correctly processing and distributing files and paperwork when hearings are complete. This position may occasionally take weekend or holiday duty to support District Court arraignments.

Our building is located next to Golden Heart Plaza, the Alaska Siberia World War II Memorial, several bike paths, and the Chena River. Work Hours:
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

KEYBOARDING CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Attach a recent keyboarding certification (dated within one year) to your application that verifies your keyboarding speed of 40 wpm or higher (net). Online keyboarding tests (often at no cost) are accepted with a valid website address noted on the document. Acceptable websites include: www.ratatype.com and www.typingtest.com.

LEGAL EMPLOYMENT

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
