Full Job Description

American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is looking for a Software Engineer to work out of our Fargo, ND office. As a member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions using the Microsoft .NET technology stack. This is a hybrid role working out of the Fargo office at least two days a week and one additional day within a two-week period.

Key Responsibilities:

Build impactful software by writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code using VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, and related technologies.
Help shape and enhance our existing applications—identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and security.
Develop innovative solutions using the Microsoft .NET stack while following modern coding standards and best practices.
Maintain, debug, and improve CI/CD pipelines across development, testing, and production environments.
Support reliable releases by contributing to automated deployment pipelines, including scripting, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Partner closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, end-to-end software solutions.
Share your expertise by mentoring fellow developers and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation for code, APIs, and system architecture—making it easier for teams to build, scale, and onboard.

What you will bring to this position:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with 3+ years of software engineering experience
Experience with relational databases and the Microsoft .NET technology stack
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and complete complex technical challenges and projects
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality software solutions while meeting project deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
Crop insurance knowledge is a plus

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $85,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
