Our Advisors serve as trusted adults, mentors, advocates, and college- and career-readiness professionals who help students navigate challenges, discover opportunities, and achieve goals that change the trajectory of their lives.
This role combines relationship-building, advising, workshop facilitation, family engagement, and student success planning to help students persist, graduate, and pursue meaningful postsecondary pathways.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
- Manage a caseload of approximately 175 middle and high school students and maintain ongoing engagement with students, families, and school partners
- Ability to motivate, understand and communicate with a diverse student population
- Build trusted relationships through consistency, empathy, active listening, accountability, and follow-through
- Create safe, supportive environments where students feel valued and empowered
- Utilize strengths-based advising and mentoring practices to help students identify and achieve goals
GUIDE STUDENT SUCCESS
- Support students in academic planning, graduation readiness and goal setting
- Assist students with college applications, FAFSA/CASFA, scholarships, and career exploration
- Connect students and families to resources that support academic, personal, and career success
- Monitor student progress and intervene proactively when barriers arise
FACILITATE ENGAGING LEARNING EXPERIENCES
- Design and facilitate engaging, high-quality workshops, small groups, and individual advising sessions
- Deliver outlined programming focused on college readiness, career exploration, leadership development, and life skills
- Recruit and retain students in Dream Team programming
- Participate in field trips, family events, and special activities throughout the year
SCHOOL & FAMILY PARTNERSHIPS
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and community partners
- Maintain strong communication with students, families, and school personnel
- Represent Dream Team professionally within schools and throughout the community
TRACK STUDENT PROGRESS AND OUTCOMES
- Maintain accurate, timely and meaningful documentation of student services, contacts, and program outcomes
- Utilize data systems to track student engagement, progress, and program participation
- Monitor student persistence, promotion, graduation, and postsecondary readiness indicators
- Support organizational and grant objectives through quality service delivery and documentation
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support organizational goals, strategic initiatives, and annual program outcomes.
- Participate in local, state, and regional trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards of professionalism.
- Maintain professional conduct, communication, and appearance appropriate for a school-based environment.
- Contribute to a collaborative team culture and assist with organizational events and projects as needed.
- Perform other duties that support student success and organizational effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Communications, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Valid driver's license and ability to transport oneself between school sites, meetings, and events.
- Experience working with students or young adults
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work during the school day and occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight student events
Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in education, youth development, mentoring, advising, college access, or counseling
- Experience in public speaking to facilitate workshops and presentations
- Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and career readiness pathways
