POSITION SUMMARY:
This safety-sensitive position fabricates and assembles structural metal products such as hoppers, gates, ladders, railings, catwalks, platforms, and metal parts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop layout and plans sequence of operations.
- Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto work piece.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, shears, iron workers, saws, welders, and drill presses.
- Cut, screw, and glue lining materials as needed.
- Hammer, chip, and grind work piece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts together.
- Design and construct templates and fixtures.
- Verify that work pieces conform to specifications.
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
- Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
- Rig materials to be lifted.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Pick up all tools and equipment and remove debris.
- Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed, and incidents are reported as required.
- Bring any issues or concerns to the attention of Supervisor, Safety Director, or Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1-3 months related experience or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read a tape measure required
- Prior forklift experience and certification preferred
- Welding certification preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

COMPENSATION:
Pay for this role starts at $25.00/hr.
