Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Clerk and become a vital part of ensuring accurate and efficient medical billing processes. In this role, you will handle the preparation, review, and submission of insurance claims, manage patient accounts, and ensure compliance with coding standards. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management and support the financial health of our healthcare facility. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about healthcare administration, this position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your career in medical billing.

Duties

Prepare and submit insurance claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure accurate reimbursement.
Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for procedures and diagnoses.
Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies.
Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure accurate patient billing information.
Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and clarify coding details.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies during the billing process.
Generate detailed reports on billing activities, claim status, and revenue cycle performance for management review.

Skills

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
Proficiency in medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
Experience with medical billing software, EMR systems, and EHR platforms for efficient claim processing.
Excellent understanding of medical collection procedures to optimize revenue recovery.
Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for proper coding and billing.
Familiarity with healthcare regulations related to medical billing practices.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with providers, insurance companies, and patients.
