Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tailor or Seamstress to manage the daily operations of a dry cleaning drop store. The ideal candidate will be skilled in performing alterations, fittings, and garment repairs while also handling customer service tasks such as accepting and returning dry cleaning orders. This role requires a combination of technical sewing expertise, excellent customer service, and organizational skills to ensure smooth store operations.

Key Responsibilities

Tailoring & Alterations

Perform professional alterations, repairs, and adjustments on clothing, including hemming, resizing, zipper replacement, and patching.
Conduct fittings with customers to ensure garments meet desired specifications.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the sewing and fitting area.

Dry Cleaning Operations

Manage the drop-off and pick-up process for dry cleaning and laundry services.
Tag and log incoming garments accurately for cleaning.
Inspect finished items for quality control before returning to customers.
Communicate effectively with the dry-cleaning plant or vendors regarding special requests or issues.

Customer Service & Store Management

Greet and assist customers courteously and professionally.
Handle payments, maintain receipts, and manage cash register transactions.
Track inventory of sewing supplies and store materials.
Open and close the store according to company procedures.
Maintain a tidy and welcoming store environment.

Qualifications

Required:

Proven experience as a tailor, seamstress, or alterations specialist.
Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and alteration techniques.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Basic computer or POS system proficiency.
Excellent attention to detail and time management.

Preferred:

Previous experience in a dry cleaning or garment care environment.
Ability to manage store operations independently.
Bilingual abilities a plus (especially English/Spanish).

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly rate or salary (commensurate with experience)
50/50 Split of all alterations work (supplies provided)
Above market rate for alterations (higher end clothing alterations)
Employee discounts on alterations and cleaning services

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
