In this role, the Stability Engineer II is responsible for performing intact and damage stability analyses for a wide range of marine vessels and offshore units. This role supports vessel design, modification, regulatory compliance, and client approvals by applying industry-recognized stability software and international regulations. The engineer works independently on moderately complex assignments and may support senior-level engineers.
What You Will Do:
- Perform intact and damage stability analyses for various marine vessels and offshore units.
- Prepare stability books, trim and stability reports, loading manuals, and damage stability calculations.
- Apply IMO, SOLAS and applicable classification society rules.
- Utilize GHS, Seasafe, NAPA, AutoCAD, and Rhino/RhinoCAD for modeling and analysis.
- Support vessel modifications, conversions, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with naval architects, shipyards, owners, operators, and classification societies
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture.
- Minimum 5 years of direct intact and damage stability analysis experience or experience working in classification societies with stability exposure. Demonstrated computer literacy, including familiarity with engineering software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in GHS, Seasafe, and NAPA.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Rhino/RhinoCAD.
- Strong understanding of hydrostatics, intact and damage stability, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
- Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
It Would Be Nice If You Had
- Experience with class society interactions.
- Background in vessel conversion or modification projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Reporting Relationships:
The incumbent reports to a senior-level engineer or technical manager. This position does not have any direct reports.
