Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy team with energy and dedication. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical pharmacy, hospital or LTC (Long-Term Care) settings, and demonstrate a passion for improving patient outcomes through expert medication management and team leadership. Duties

Lead and supervise the pharmacy team, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient service
Oversee medication dispensing, compounding medications preparations following USP 797 standards for aseptic technique
Ensure compliance with all federal and state pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and pharmaceutical regulatory standards
Manage inventory control, including medication stock levels, expiration tracking, and procurement processes to optimize supply chain efficiency
Conduct patient assessments, medication reviews, and clinical interventions to support medical management plans across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and critical care cases
Implement and monitor pharmacy software systems (PIS, EMR/EHR systems) for accurate record keeping, medication administration documentation, and billing processes
Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies while providing patient care services such as immunizations and medication counseling
Facilitate ongoing staff training on new medications, regulatory updates, and best practices in healthcare compliance

Experience

Proven experience as a licensed pharmacist with a minimum of several years in a hospital or LTC pharmacy setting; prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge is highly preferred
Demonstrated expertise in clinical pharmacy practice including pain management, immunizations, acute care procedures, and medical terminology
Strong background in pharmacy residency programs or equivalent advanced training emphasizing patient service and healthcare compliance
Extensive knowledge of physiology, anatomy, drug regulation policies, USP 797 standards for sterile compounding, and HIPAA regulations
Hands-on experience with pharmacy information systems (PIS), electronic health record (EHR) systems, inventory management tools, and aseptic techniques
Familiarity with IV insertion techniques, IV infusion therapy protocols, and medication administration procedures across hospital environments
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification along with current licensure according to state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice
