Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) provides free virtual and face-to-face classroom instruction to eligible Missouri citizens in Reading, Language, Mathematics, English Language Competency, Workplace Literacy, Digital Literacy, Civics, and Citizenship. Certified instructors teach all classes. Adult students receive preparation for Missouri’s High School Equivalency exam (HiSET® or GED®) integrated with career specific workforce training. English learners become literate in the English language while learning the responsibilities of citizenship and workforce preparation.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
What you’ll do:
- Ensure quality data reporting to the U.S. Department of Education for Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) required performance outcomes.
- Assist with the implementation of accountability systems that measure performance of AEL programs.
- Act as liaison between the management information system vendor and local adult education programs regarding data issues.
- Supervise specialty areas assigned by the coordinator, e.g., monitoring of local programs and professional development for local AEL teachers.
- Provide effective communication to local AEL programs on planning and implementation of AEL activities and services in the form of technical assistance/guidance.
- Create and analyze data reports as needed by local AEL programs or AEL staff.
- Assist Coordinator with implementing federal/state policies procedures relating to the operation of the AEL program.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other state AEL staff, local school officials, community colleges, local community-based organizations, civic leaders, business industry, and social services groups.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
- Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, or a closely related field.
OR
- Four years of successful professional work experience in the field of grant monitoring, performance reporting, administration, education, or training.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Literacy, Adult & Community Education System (LACES)
REQUIRED TRAVEL: This position requires frequent travel in-state or out-of-state. The official domicile for this position is Jefferson City, Missouri. Mileage and other travel expenses will be reimbursed at the approved rate.
(Other qualifications and experience which, in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)
