Anderson Auto is seeking an HR Generalist/HR Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruiting, pre-screening, and onboarding new employees, administering payroll, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations. The HR Generalist plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, supporting employees and managers, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate with HR staff, the Business Office, managers, and employees across all departments while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and strong internal customer service; support daily store operations and a detail-oriented team culture.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accurate, timely payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity through regular audits, updates, and validation of employee, compensation, and job data.
- Ensure accuracy of employee deductions, benefits enrollments, tax withholdings, and garnishments.
- Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger entries, resolving discrepancies with the Business Office as needed.
- Administer employees onboarding and offboarding in the HRIS, including data entry, status changes, and final pay processing.
- Support benefits administration and payroll/benefits system integration.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and HR best practices through routine audits of HR, payroll, and personnel records.
- Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding in partnership with department managers.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures; coach managers on policy interpretation and performance management.
- Review and approve employee timecards to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with company policy and labor regulations.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in Human Resources, preferably payroll-focused, with Paycom or similar HRIS experience.
- Knowledge of recruiting, onboarding, payroll processing, HRIS, and applicant tracking systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support employees and collaborate with managers.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines, including payroll cycles.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Payroll processing experience (Paycom preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to perform office-based work, including prolonged sitting, keyboarding, and computer use.
- Occasional physical activity including bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lbs, with periods of standing and walking.
