Under the direct supervision of a shift commander (Corrections Sergeant), the corrections deputy maintains all security requirements of a designated section of the correctional facility (jail). Carries out assignments as directed or in accordance with Corrections Division and Departmental policy.
High school diploma or GED equivalent with college courses in Corrections preferred. Must successfully complete or have completed the Michigan Sheriff Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC) 160 hr Local Corrections Officer Academy when requested.
Experience in the Corrections field at the County level is preferred.
Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License with a good driving record. No prior felony convictions. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to receive and maintain a valid CPL (Concealed Pistol License).
Written Exam - Must have passed the Michigan Sheriff's Association's EMPCO Written Exam and subit documentation within 15 days of position's closing date. Information on how to register for the exam can be found at www.empco.net/msa

Oral Interview - Must successfully complete oral interview process

Light Work: Exerting up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Seeing: The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye. The important aspects of vision are:
