Reports to: Facility Supervisor
FLSA Status: Part-Time Hourly
Salary: $18.00+ (DOE)
Under the direction of the on-duty Supervisor and the Aquatics Director, the primary responsibility is to safeguard the lives of individuals at the facility and prevent accidents through knowledge of lifesaving, proper use of equipment, and situational. Other duties include assisting in the overall operation of the facility, light maintenance and cleaning as necessary, and other related duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Maintain a 10/20 protection to zone while on stand

Enforce Facility rules and regulations consistently

Respond quickly, effectively and efficiently to all emergency situations

Render first aid and care as needed/directed

Report to work ready to begin including in uniform and application of sunscreen
(seasonal)

Completion of inservice training and training materials as assigned

Communicate with other facility staff, management, and the general public

Report all accidents involving any aspect to the onduty supervisor

Process incident reports and complete all required paperwork

Maintenance and cleaning daily as required

Rotate to assigned areas in a timely manner

Perform light maintenance and cleaning as directed

Keep work area in a clean and presentable condition

Other related duties as assigned
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be certified as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have hearing within normal range corrected or uncorrected. Must have availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Must be able to pass a drug.
Prior lifeguard and customer service experience desired.
Certified as a lifeguard through the American Red Cross with CPR/AR/First Aid/AED certifications.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Demonstrate the ability to understand concepts like measurements, fractions, and percentages.
Demonstrate the ability to handle complex issues that may involve sensitive information. Must demonstrate the ability to recognize an individual in distress and respond accordingly. Demonstrate the ability to handle difficult situations that may include patrons or staff members. Demonstrate the ability to deal with conflict in a professional manner and resolve issues.

Comprised of 3 indoor and 4 outdoor pools, fitness facility, and classroom / meeting space, the Aquatic Center serves over 100,000 visitors annually.
