About TruDiagnostic
TruDiagnostic is a leading epigenetic testing company at the forefront of the longevity and preventive health revolution. Operating out of our CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory, we leverage the largest private DNA methylation database in the world to give healthcare providers, individuals, and researchers the insights they need to understand aging at the molecular level and take proactive steps toward better health.
Our science is not developed in isolation. We co-develop and peer-review our algorithms in partnership with world-leading institutions including Harvard, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Columbia, and our work powers more than 300 research studies and a growing body of peer-reviewed publications. Our flagship TruAge™ platform measures biological age across hundreds of thousands of methylation markers, drawing on validated algorithms like DunedinPACE and the OMICm Age algorithm we developed alongside Harvard.
We are driven by a deep passion for a future where aging is understood, health is optimized, and lives are truly transformed. As a rigorous, cutting-edge scientific company, the quality of our work begins in the lab. If you're eager to do meaningful, high-precision science and help people live healthier, longer, more vibrant lives, we invite you to join our mission.
About This Role
This is a role for an experienced molecular laboratory professional who wants a long-term home in the lab. We're looking for someone stable, seasoned, and self-directed. A person who can own workflows, uphold quality and compliance, mentor newer technicians, and help set the standard for how a great lab operates. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy under general supervision and serve as a keeper of knowledge, training, and operational excellence.
We offer this position as a salaried role with equity eligibility because we're investing in people who invest in us. We want someone who thinks about the science and the workflow, not the clock, and who shares in the company's growth.
All laboratory roles are structured to comply with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Scope of duties is determined by education, experience, documented competency, and formal designation by laboratory leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform molecular testing and sample processing with a high level of technical proficiency and minimal supervision
- Execute DNA and RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control procedures
- Conduct genotyping and methylation array analysis using GenomeStudio or equivalent software
- Take operational ownership of designated workflows, including maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve workflow issues in collaboration with laboratory leadership, and exercise sound professional judgment when something isn't right
- Document, review, and analyze experimental data in compliance with laboratory standards
- Contribute to SOP development, quality systems, audits, and the overall health and management of the laboratory
- Train and mentor junior laboratory technicians, modeling professionalism and a quality-and-compliance mindset
- Support research and development initiatives as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Scope and CLIA Compliance
- Performs moderate-complexity testing under general supervision
- Protocol optimizations are performed only under the direction and approval of laboratory leadership and do not constitute independent test validation
- Does not independently release final patient test results or modify validated assays unless formally designated and qualified under CLIA
- May function as a CLIA General Supervisor only if education, experience, and formal designation requirements are met
What We're Looking For
This role is defined by ownership and judgment, not just the ability to run a workflow. The ideal candidate has a stable career history, understands what it means to work in a regulated lab, and brings the professionalism to be intelligent about quality and compliance. We're hiring people who can be the steady backbone of the lab and help raise everyone around them.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field, or equivalent years of experience
- 2+ years of molecular laboratory experience, with a demonstrated track record of stability and growth
- Hands-on experience with molecular extraction, quantification, and QC techniques
- Working knowledge of CLIA standards and laboratory best practices, with the ability to speak to how you've participated in quality and compliance
- Demonstrated ability to follow, understand, and give feedback on SOPs
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and professional maturity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a CLIA, COLA, or CAP-accredited laboratory
- Experience operating Illumina equipment and/or Tecan automation
- Genotyping and/or methylation array experience
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex workflow issues and mentor staff
- Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements
- Curiosity and interest in the broader business, for people who want to grow into other areas over time
Advancement and Scope (Level 2 to Level 3)
This posting spans our Level 2 and Senior (Level 3) technician scope. Placement and progression are based on experience, demonstrated competency, and contribution.
- Level 2 scope: Performs molecular testing with increased autonomy under general supervision, and owns the consistency and quality of assigned workflows
- Senior (Level 3) scope: Provides advanced technical expertise, workflow ownership, troubleshooting, and mentorship, and helps drive quality systems, SOPs, and lab operations
