Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Audit Senior to lead audit engagements, deliver high quality audits, and develop junior team members. The Audit Senior will manage all phases of the audit process for a diverse client base, including nonprofit organizations, construction contractors, real estate companies, and manufacturers. This role requires strong public accounting experience, sound technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage audit engagements from planning through completion, including risk assessment, audit strategy, and staffing
Plan and perform audit fieldwork, including substantive testing and evaluation of account balances and disclosures
Prepare and review financial statements and related audit documentation in accordance with GAAP, GASB when applicable, and AICPA standards
Supervise, train, and mentor audit staff by delegating work, reviewing workpapers, and providing timely feedback
Evaluate client internal controls and communicate deficiencies and recommendations to management and those charged with governance
Serve as the primary client contact during engagements and maintain strong client relationships
Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope
Support audits in industry specific areas, including nonprofit financial reporting and Form 990, construction accounting and percentage of completion, real estate transactions, and manufacturing inventory and cost accounting
Perform technical accounting research and assist with the implementation of new accounting and auditing standards
Participate in business development efforts, including proposals, presentations, and networking activities
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; Masters degree or additional graduate coursework preferred
CPA license required or actively pursuing CPA certification
2+ years of public accounting experience with increasing audit responsibility
Experience auditing multiple industries, with preference for nonprofit, construction, real estate, and manufacturing
Strong knowledge of GAAP, auditing standards, nonprofit accounting, and Form 990; familiarity with GASB is a plus
Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit documentation
Proficiency with audit and accounting software such as CaseWare, ProSystem fx Engagement, or IDEA, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong leadership, communication, and client service skills
Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple engagements in a fast paced environment
Willingness to travel to client sites as needed and flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods
