Position Overview:
Through this Apprenticeship you will learn manufacturing skills, get working knowledge and experience on a variety of CNC machines and controls. The apprentice shall receive on the job training as well as related supplemental instruction with our partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.
LifePort Machinist Duties and Responsibilities:

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and informs lead person of discrepancies.

Thoroughly inspects first part run

Meets job standard times with minimal supervision

Recognizes production problems and informs supervisor

Understanding of basic machine language (G and M codes)

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools

Reads and interprets manufacturing / Engineering drawings
-
Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed
- Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and procedures

Apprentice Program Minimum Qualifications:
Age: Minimum of 18 years of age.
Education: Applicant shall be a high school graduate or equivalent and provide proof of educational attainment through such means as diploma, transcripts, or official GED or High School Equivalency test results.
Physical: Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering the safety or health of co-workers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
