Job Summary
The Patient Safety Attendant is responsible for observing and providing in room observation to assigned patient(s) under direction of the Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the Patient Care Associates. The PSA carries various clinical responsibilities as well as documentation of tasks and observations and upholds the Patient Bill of Rights.
Essential Functions
- JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities. * 1. Provides assistance to meet personal hygiene and grooming needs. 2. Provides assistance with the nutritional needs of the patients, including feeding, mealtime assistance/set-up, supplying fluids, refilling water pitchers and delivering supplemental/bedtime snacks. 3. Lifts, moves, turns and transports patients out of bed, chair, stretcher, wheelchair, portable mechanical lift, etc, maintaining proper body mechanics. 4. Maintains a clean, neat, safe environment of the patient’s room during the hospital stay. Communicates all patient care information to the Registered Nurse or PCA 5. Documents observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse. 6. Observe patient for signs of suicidal disposition and call for help immediately. 7. Effectively interacts with patients, families and all members of the Interdisciplinary team. 8. Ability to multi-task in a very busy environment 9. Excellent Customer Service skills 10. Excellent organizational skills; demonstrates exceptional ability in managing the environment.

Qualifications
- High School Required or
- GED Required
- 1-3 years Prefer previous Health Care experience or experience as a companion to the geriatric or psychiatric patient Preferred
- Full command of English Language, spoken and written.
- Sufficient physical ability to assist PCA and RN with patient care functions.
- Demonstrated computer aptitude
- BLS- American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
Attend mandated training session including non violent crisis intervention. within 30 Days Required
