Located in Grand Haven, MI, Lucy's is a laid-back restaurant offering a carefully curated selection of share plates, sandwiches, flatbreads, and comfort food for all eaters with a friendly vibe and daily live music. We are excited to collaborate with a knowledgeable and experienced individual with great attention to detail and skills to achieve operational consistency, as well as communicating and implementing company objectives in collaboration with the Head Chef and General Manager.

As a Line Cook, your responsibilities will encompass overseeing daily food preparation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting in preparing appetizers and entrees, maintaining a clean working environment, and ensuring the highest quality experience for our customers and guests at Lucy’s.

PAY: $17/hr- $22/hr DOE

LOCATION: Onsite at Lucy’s
REPORTS TO: Head Chef

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Responsible for ensuring the successful preparation of ingredients and cooking of menu items as well as achieving company goals.

LINE COOK SPECIFIC:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):

Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes and special dietary restrictions/allergy accommodations.
Prepare food in collaboration with the Kitchen Manager so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is achieved and preserved.
Keep the work area neat and clean at all times; clean all equipment used in food preparation.
Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
Wash dishes and pots and operate dishwashing equipment as needed.
Empty trash containers as required.
Maintain a friendly work environment through constant, positive communication
Represent Lucy’s with integrity to customers, associates, and partners.
Act and fill in as needed during staff absences or busy shifts.
Perform other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLS

Be precise and detail oriented.
Ability to follow written recipes, and oral instructions and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with prep cooks, wait staff and Kitchen Manager.
Flexibility with job duties and shifts, willing to arrive 10 minutes prior to the assigned shift.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety practices.
Knowledge of cooking procedures and food safety.
Prior experience in related food service positions preferred.
Dedication to meeting the requirements of a team player.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
Proactive problem solver who anticipates needs and takes action.
Strong communication skills including the ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback, and be a solid verbal and written communicator.
Prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure.
Accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively, and looks for growth opportunities.
Adaptive and contributes to new ideas and positive changes.
Reliable transportation.
ServSafe Certification preferred.
EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of high school graduate or GED equivalent.
WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON
Experience with full-service restaurant kitchens is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to spend extended periods standing and/or walking.
Ability to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less, regularly.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment.
Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
