Evergreen has been proud to be a leader in the used cooking oil and grease recycling industry for over 40 years. It all began with our first facility in Adrian, Michigan. We strive to provide prompt and reliable service, use cooking oil recycling expertise, and a commitment to serving our communities. The used cooking oil, along with other Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG), are brought to our facilities for processing into feedstocks that can be used for renewable fuels production like biodiesel, a renewable, clean-burning diesel fuel alternative. Evergreen offers bundled services to our customers for convenience: Used Cooking Oil Collection, Industrial Byproduct Waste Management, Grease Trap Service, Interceptor Cleaning, Pressure Washing, and Line Jetting.
Summary
Perform various tasks associated with operations, maintenance, demolition, and construction as it relates to the Elkhart site. These tasks can include general maintenance and repair of office and plant facilities, and equipment associated with each facility. Operates and may perform inspection and routine maintenance on various equipment including forklifts, skid steers, delivery trucks, small tractors, and other various motorized equipment in the performance of job-related tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates forklifts, skid steer loaders, manlifts and other types of light motorized equipment.
- General Deconstruction: Removal of walls, ceiling tiles, floors, free standing buildings.
- Performs transloading in a safe and documented manner as required, always following documented processes / procedures.
- Obtains samples and performs documented testing of obtained samples as required.
- Operates tail gates and/or platforms to facilitate loading and unloading of materials.
- Drives 2-5 ton or heavier vehicles and may operate other light equipment.
- Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs snow removal and ground maintenance as required.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Chauffeur’s License (Indiana For Hire Endorsement) preferred
- Equipment Operation (preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of materials handling equipment and procedures.
- Knowledge of general construction/deconstruction methods
- Ability to drive motor vehicles.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Conditions of Employment
- Possession of a valid driver's license is a requirement for this job.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment background check, physical examination, drug screen, and MVR screening, and any others deemed appropriate for this position.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Physical Activity: Extensive physical activity is required. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds is required.
- Work Environment: Work is performed in an all weather/all season environment. Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises can be expected.
- Hazards: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which requires strict adherence to basic safety precautions. Occasional exposure to chemical agents may occur.
