Compensation: Salary commensurate with the credentials and experience of the candidate; tentative starting salary $70,000-$75,000
Required Qualifications:

A valid teaching certificate in the state of Michigan

Experience in the field of Career and Technical Education
Highly Preferred Qualifications:

A valid administrative certificate in the state of Michigan

A valid Career and Technical Education certificate in the state of Michigan
Overall Essential Job Functions:
-
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
-
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for any CTE course in which the director is the teacher of record.

Prepare, administer, and grade assignments in order to evaluate students' progress in any CTE program in which the director is the teacher of record.
-
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students for any CTE course in which the director is the teacher of record.

Identifies student needs and confers with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, or administrators in order to resolve students' academic needs related to progress in the CTE programs.

Maintains professional competence through Professional Development activities provided by the district, professional meetings, educational conferences, and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

Supervises students during the assigned working day as needed.
-
Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
-
Oversee, plan, and/or supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities as needed for CTE courses and programs.

Conduct evaluation processes with all personnel according to district and state tenure policies, rules, procedures, and contracts

Monitors and evaluates student outcomes on standardized testing as related to CTE programs.

Comply with all school district policies and procedures.
-
Ability to align CTE goals and objectives with district and state standards.
-
Maintains confidentiality regarding all student affairs.
-
Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
-
Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Central Office Administration, and/or Superintendent of Schools.
Local CTE Director Responsibilities:
State and Federal Compliance

Annual Authorization/Credit tracking

Provide assessment testing to all eligible CTE students

Monitor CIP Self Review

Classrooms and labs are accessible for all students (including disabled individuals)

Monitor and attend program Advisory Committees to ensure compliance

Monitor CTE Instructor’s professional development records
-
Ensure Gap analysis is complete and aligns with state CTE Program Standards

Review all CTEIS data for accuracy prior to being submitted to the Fiscal Agent

Provide support to the instructor on gathering the correct information for the new program application

Post-secondary Partnerships
-
Work with colleges to ensure there is a postsecondary articulation and program of study for each CTE program in the district
-
Oversees and assists Assistant Principals/Directors with direct credit and/or dual enrollment classes with colleges
-
Collaborate/Facilitate with colleges to review certification of instructors for articulated/direct credit
-
Share post-secondary updates with instructors and administration
-
Student Career Planning
-
Collaborate with counselors on student schedules
-
Ensure EDP Implementation for 7th-12th-grade students
-
Work with College and Career Center personnel to meet the need of college and career-bound students
-
School to Career Coordination
-
Assist with placement, coordination, and maintenance of Work-Based Learning experiences, including:
-
Location of prospective partners and training stations
-
Evaluation of potential worksites
-
Providing detailed program information for the purpose of orientation to employers
-
Awareness and oversight of child labor laws and hazardous occupation rules
-
Observation of safety conditions on the job
-
Confirmation of workers’ compensation insurance coverage and general liability insurance coverage of the worksite
-
Preparation of training agreements
-
Development of training plans
-
Collaboration with employer and teacher for instructional needs of the student learners

Observation of student learners at worksites
-
Collection and maintenance of teacher/coordinator records

Liaison for student learner work/school issues

Collection of student learner wage and hour records

Development and implementation of visitation plan

Develop CTE program recruitment strategies to ensure programs are open to all students

Promote district CTE programs throughout the county

Generate recruitment materials/brochures

Encourage nontraditional students by providing positive classroom climates

Communicate to students what CTE opportunities are available for their district
-
Set a positive example to the districts’/ CTE instructors by successfully achieving goals, completing projects, and meeting deadlines
-
Attend CTE Director’s meetings and disseminate information to appropriate staff
-
Attend CTE Director's professional development
-
Send CTE instructors to program-relevant professional development
-
Act as liaison between Berrien RESA CTE office and school instructors, counselors, administration, and central office
-
Disseminate and implement state changes for programs
-
Encourage CTE instructors to take part in pilot programs or program-related meetings at the state level
-
Collect and process data to share with all stakeholders on progress of CTE goals and programs
-
Coordination of student records and grades
-
Coordination of communication with shared districts; students, location, & times of program courses
-
Oversee transportation plans and communications of all CTE programs
-
Serve as PLC leader for the CTE department
