Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Broker to join our expanding logistics and supply chain team. In this vital role, you will be the key liaison between clients, carriers, and internal teams, orchestrating seamless transportation solutions that meet customer needs while optimizing operational efficiency. Your expertise in supply chain management, transportation planning, and sales will drive growth and foster long-term relationships with clients and carriers alike. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the logistics landscape through innovative strategies and exceptional service delivery.

Duties

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure smooth transportation operations.
Manage end-to-end freight brokerage processes, including quoting, booking, dispatching, and tracking shipments across various modes of transportation.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and CRM software to streamline operations, facilitate data entry, and enhance communication.
Negotiate rates, contracts, and service terms with carriers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining high service standards.
Coordinate transportation planning efforts to optimize routes, reduce costs, and improve delivery times in compliance with FDA regulations when applicable.
Lead lead generation initiatives through prospecting activities such as cold calling, networking, and B2B sales strategies to expand the customer base.
Oversee inside sales activities by responding promptly to customer inquiries, providing quotes, and closing sales efficiently.
Manage account management duties by monitoring client satisfaction levels and resolving issues proactively to foster loyalty.
Dispatch shipments accurately by coordinating with carriers and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations including freight documentation and contracts.
Track shipment progress using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), AS400 platforms, and other logistics software to provide real-time updates to clients.
Conduct negotiations for freight pricing, carrier selection, and service levels to maximize profitability while delivering value to customers.
Perform data entry tasks related to shipments, contracts, pricing agreements, and dispatch logs with precision.
Support logistics sales efforts by identifying new business opportunities within existing accounts or through market research.

Requirements

Proven experience in supply chain management or transportation brokerage with a strong understanding of logistics operations.
Solid knowledge of transportation planning, freight pricing strategies, carrier relations, and contract negotiations.
Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in data entry and documentation processes.
Strong negotiation skills coupled with excellent communication abilities for effective customer relationship management.
Knowledge of 3PL operations, NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) services, FDA regulations (if applicable), and logistics compliance standards.
Demonstrated ability to generate leads through proactive outreach methods such as inside sales tactics or networking initiatives.
Proficiency in dispatching procedures and transportation planning for efficient shipment execution.
