Periodic Products, Inc., a chemical technology company that develops and commercializes novel plastics and fibers, is expanding and has an immediate opening for an Associate Chemist in Sarasota, Florida. The duties of this B.S. Chemist entry level position include conducting production activities in several project areas. Essential job functions and requirements are provided below.
Job Functions
· Accurately prepare and QC raw material, in-process, and finished products.
· Liaison with production teams to meet production goals.
· Write and maintain SOPs.
· Maintain SDS for raw materials and products.
· Accurately test and evaluate results for product performance using ICP-OES.
· Maintain and troubleshoot general equipment and laboratory instruments including ICP-OES, FT-IR, DSC, analytical balances, moisture balance, and planetary ball mill.
· Conduct process development projects with minimal supervision.
· Coordinate and report production activities to management.
· Maintain chemical and laboratory inventory.
· Maintain accurate scientific records in the form of a laboratory notebook.
· Train new and current employees.
· Provide timely and well-written production reports.
· Prepare samples for submission to outside testing laboratories.
· Display attention to detail and an ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while maintaining GLP, QC, and QA standards.
· Demonstrate creative and critical thinking in experimental designs and data analyses.
· Other duties as determined by supervisor to meet ongoing needs of the organization.
Requirements
· 1-2 years of experience in the chemical industry preferred.
· 1-year ICP-OES experience preferred.
· Undergraduate chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering degree required.
· Good computer skills (MS EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT).
· Good oral and written communication skills.
· Able to lift 20 pounds.
