Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer to join our team! This role offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your accounting expertise in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting clients during tax season. As a vital member of our finance department, you will manage bookkeeping tasks, prepare tax documents, and utilize a variety of accounting software to deliver precise financial insights. Your energetic approach and strong technical skills will help drive our mission to provide exceptional financial services with integrity and enthusiasm.

Duties

Maintain accurate financial records by recording transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken.
Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting to ensure data integrity.
Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to support financial reporting.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently while ensuring timely payments and collections.
Assist in payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and preparing related reports.
Compile financial data for tax preparation, including supporting documentation for individual and business clients.
Support clients with tax experience needs by preparing federal, state, and local tax returns while adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards.
Conduct governmental accounting tasks when necessary, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Contribute to budgeting efforts by analyzing financial reports and assisting with forecast preparation.
Perform double-entry bookkeeping tasks with precision, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger at all times.
Utilize technical accounting knowledge to troubleshoot discrepancies and improve processes for efficiency.

Qualifications

Proven experience in bookkeeping, tax preparation, or related roles within public or corporate accounting environments.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles, governmental accounting standards, and financial concepts.
Skilled in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.
Knowledge of payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and budget analysis.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform 10 key typing accurately under tight deadlines.
Familiarity with double-entry bookkeeping systems and financial report writing is essential.
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and professionally.
Strong organizational skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
