Regional Operations Manager | Multi-Site Leadership | Restoration
QUICK OVERVIEW - TL;DR (please read this section to ensure your fit before applying)
Our client is hiring a Regional Operations Manager to lead operational excellence across a six-office, $60+ million restoration group. This is not your typical multi-site operations role – this is a direct apprenticeship to become a Branch General Manager or a Regional Leadership Role.
THE WHO: Our client is one of the leading restoration and reconstruction companies operating in the Midwest, with multiple offices across several states serving residential, institutional, and commercial customers. For decades, they've served communities during their darkest hours – floods, fires, mold emergencies – bringing people back to their homes and businesses with care, expertise, and a phoenix-like commitment to restoration.
THE WHAT: You will be the strategic partner to a regional operator, driving operational excellence across multiple offices in a multi-state footprint. This is a true "best of both worlds" role – you'll immerse yourself in elite, high-performing offices to master what operational excellence looks like, then deploy as a change agent to growth markets where your process improvements will drive immediate, measurable impact on profitability and performance.
MUST HAVES: We're looking for a proven multi-site operations leader – someone with 5-10 years of experience who gets energized by standardizing processes, coaching teams, and driving accountability across distributed operations. You need a background in process improvement, multi-location management, and understanding the financial levers of a business. Experience in restoration is a plus, but we're equally excited about talent from general construction, industrial services, logistics, manufacturing, or multi-unit operations (hospitality, food service, retail). Most importantly, you need to be hungry for executive leadership and genuinely comfortable withtravel across multiple states.
THE WHY: The restoration industry is recession-proof, growing, and serves communities during their most vulnerable moments. But beyond the stability and mission, this role offers something rare: a clear, explicit 18-24 month path to executive leadership – whether that's General Manager with full P&L ownership of a multi-million dollar operation or a broader regional leadership role overseeing multiple markets. Your trajectory depends on your strengths, ambitions, and performance. You're not fighting for incremental promotions in a bureaucratic machine – you're being developed to lead at the highest levels.
THE WHERE: This role will be based in the Midwest (specific location to be discussed with qualified candidates). The strategic placement will be in one of the company's highest-performing markets to ensure you're immersed in operational excellence before deploying those learnings elsewhere. Multi-state travel (approximately 50%) will be required, especially in the first year.
THE HOW: There are three key strategic initiatives that this person will be initially tasked with:
- Operational Excellence Deployment: Immerse yourself in the highest-performing offices to decode the systems, processes, and cultural DNA that drive industry-leading margins and minimal turnover – then systematically deploy those learnings across growth markets that need operational transformation.
- Multi-Site Process Standardization & Growth Market Leadership: Lead the operational transformation of multiple offices by implementing SOPs, establishing accountability frameworks, coaching Project Managers and Estimators, and driving measurable profitability improvements across a geographically distributed operation.
- Executive Leadership Development: Take on increasing responsibility for strategic decision-making, financial management, and executive-level planning – participating in growth strategy and market expansion decisions that position you for the next level of leadership, whether that's a GM role with full P&L ownership or a regional leadership position overseeing multiple markets and leaders.
THE NUTS & BOLTS: Comp range is a base of $90,000 - $110,000 plus bonus tied to regional profitability and growth. Strong benefits package included. The real opportunity is the trajectory – you're being developed for executive leadership, not just managing operations.

THE COMPANY & TEAM
Our client is a leading restoration and reconstruction company with a powerful regional presence across the Midwest, operating multiple offices serving residential, commercial, and institutional clients.
Even better – it is in an industry that truly serves its community. The restoration and reconstruction industry comes alongside home and business owners during unexpected hard days – floods, fires, mold, and more. Imagine a restaurant kitchen fire that closes the business and 50 employees are now temporarily out of work. Or a broken pipe that floods a home and displaces a family.
These are just a few of the examples of how our client steps in and serves their communities with steadfast service through innovative solutions and approach, and all-inclusive support to get people back in business.
Some of their offices represent operational excellence – tight processes, strong profitability, low turnover, and a culture of pride and accountability. Other offices are in growth mode and need that same operational DNA deployed – and you'll be the leader tasked with making it happen.
YOUR DNA
- You are a multi-site operations leader who has successfully managed distributed teams, standardized processes across locations, and driven consistent performance in a geographically dispersed operation. You don't just manage one site well – you know how to replicate success across multiple markets.
- You are a process architect and systems thinker – someone who walks into inconsistent operations and instinctively sees the frameworks, SOPs, and accountability systems needed to drive efficiency and profitability. You've built operational playbooks before and know how to get teams to actually follow them.
- You are entrepreneurial and results-driven – frustrated by bureaucracy, "cog in the machine" roles, and ambiguous career paths. You want to see the direct, measurable impact of your work and are comfortable making decisions independently while collaborating strategically with senior leadership.
- You are hungry for executive leadership. You don't just want another multi-site operations job – you want to learn from a successful regional leader who will mentor you on how to run a business, manage margins, lead other leaders, and ultimately step into an executive role – whether that's owning a P&L as a General Manager or overseeing multiple markets in a regional leadership capacity.
- You are a cultural chameleon and change agent – able to quickly assess different office dynamics, build trust without needing formal authority over location leaders, and drive change through influence and credibility. You've navigated the politics of multi-site operations and know how to get buy-in from independent-minded leaders.
- You are a strategic road warrior – genuinely comfortable with significant multi-state travel (not just saying so to get the job). You understand that multi-site leadership requires boots on the ground, and you're energized by the variety rather than drained by the travel.
- You bring executive presence and business acumen – able to hold your own in strategic discussions about margins, profitability, growth plans, and expansion. You understand the financial levers of a project-based business and can speak the language of P&L management and regional strategy.
- You are coachable with high standards – more interested in driving results than protecting ego. You're humble enough to learn a proven operational playbook before customizing it, and confident enough to hold teams accountable once you've deployed it.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
As the Regional Operations Manager, you will serve as the strategic partner to the regional leader, driving operational excellence, process standardization, and profitability improvements across multiple offices. This is an explicit leadership development role with a clear 18-24 month trajectory to executive leadership – whether that's a General Manager role with full P&L ownership or a regional leadership position overseeing multiple markets, depending on your strengths, interests, and performance.
The Day to Day
- Master operational excellence: Embed in the highest-performing offices to decode the systems, processes, margin management strategies, and cultural elements that drive industry-leading performance and retention.
- Lead multi-site operational transformation: Spend the majority of your time supporting offices that need operational elevation – conducting assessments, implementing standardized SOPs, and driving measurable improvements in efficiency, profitability, and team performance.
- Build accountability frameworks across locations: Establish consistent production meeting cadences, performance management systems, KPI tracking, and reporting structures that create visibility and drive results across geographically distributed teams.
- Coach and develop location leadership: Work alongside office leaders to elevate their operational and leadership capabilities, improving decision-making, financial management, and team development without undermining their autonomy.
- Influence without direct authority: Drive change across multiple independently operated offices by building credibility, earning trust, and becoming the go-to resource for operational problem-solving and best practice deployment.
- Drive margin improvement and cost control: Focus on the financial levers that impact profitability – job costing accuracy, estimating effectiveness, production efficiency, and resource utilization across the regional operation.
- Participate in executive-level strategy: Gain direct exposure to P&L management, market expansion planning, growth strategy, and strategic decision-making that most multi-site managers never experience.
- Develop executive leadership readiness: Take on increasing responsibility for business unit performance, strategic planning, financial accountability, and leadership of other leaders to position yourself for the next level – whether that's a GM role running your own operation or a regional role overseeing multiple markets.
- Create scalable operational systems: Document and standardize the processes, training programs, and operational frameworks that will support continued regional growth and future expansion.
Education and Experience
- 5-10 years of multi-site operations management or related leadership experience
- Proven track record managing distributed operations across multiple locations or markets
- Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and standardizing operations that drive measurable results (efficiency gains, margin improvement, cost reduction)
- Experience coaching and developing location managers, project managers, or field-based teams
- Strong understanding of P&L management, margin analysis, job costing, and financial performance drivers in a project-based or service business
- Background in restoration, general construction, industrial services, facilities management, logistics, manufacturing, or multi-unit operations (hospitality, retail, food service)
- Currently in the "prime mover" career window (1.5-7 years in current role) – proven success but ready for the leap to executive leadership
- College degree preferred but not required for candidates with exceptional operational track records
Competency, Abilities, and Skills
- Multi-Site Leadership: Proven ability to drive consistent performance across geographically distributed teams with different cultures, markets, and challenges
- Process & Systems Design: Natural ability to see operational inefficiencies across multiple sites and design workflows, SOPs, and frameworks that drive standardization and scalability
- Change Management: Experience leading operational transformations – you know how to diagnose problems, build buy-in, and implement sustainable improvements
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of the financial levers in a project-based business – estimating accuracy, job costing, margin management, overhead control, and P&L performance
- Influence & Collaboration: Ability to drive change without direct authority – earning credibility with independent-minded location leaders and getting them to adopt your frameworks
- Performance Management: Experience establishing KPIs, accountability systems, and reporting cadences that create visibility and drive results across distributed operations
- Adaptability & Political Savvy: Comfort navigating different office dynamics, building trust quickly, and knowing when to push hard versus when to coach patiently
- Communication Excellence: Ability to coach, train, and develop leaders and teams – both one-on-one and in group settings – while delivering tough feedback that strengthens relationships
- Tech Proficiency: Comfortable with CRM systems, project management platforms, estimating software (Xactimate or similar), financial dashboards, and operational reporting tools. Specific background in any specific software is not required, but proficiency in learning technology platforms and utilizing them to the fullest is a must.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to move fluidly between tactical execution (fixing a specific process gap) and strategic planning (building scalable systems for future growth and expansion)
Travel
This position will require approximately 50% travel (especially heavy in the first 12-18 months) across multiple office locations in the Midwest. Travel will include regular site visits, extended stays for operational assessments and training, and participation in company events. Travel requirements will decrease as operational improvements stabilize and you transition into an executive leadership role.
