Full Job Description

A mental health counseling job involves assessing clients, developing treatment plans (individual, family, group), providing therapy (like CBT, psychodynamic), crisis intervention, and teaching coping skills for emotional, behavioral, and substance use issues, all while documenting progress and collaborating with other professionals for holistic care in settings like private practices, home and/or schools. Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Assessment & Diagnosis: Evaluate client's mental/physical health, behaviors, and history to determine needs and readiness for treatment.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement personalized treatment plans with specific goals for individuals, families, or groups.
Counseling & Therapy: Conduct sessions using various techniques (CBT, talk therapy) to help clients address issues like addiction, depression, trauma, and relationship problems.
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support during acute mental health crises.
Skill Building: Teach clients coping mechanisms, life skills, and strategies to manage symptoms and achieve wellness.
Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential client records and progress notes.
Collaboration: Work with other professionals (doctors, social workers) for integrated care and refer clients to other services (support groups, job placement).
Family Support: Educate families about disorders and strategies to support recovery.
Discharge Planning: Prepare clients for transitioning out of counseling.

Essential Skills:

Compassion, empathy, strong listening skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to discern underlying issues from client's words and actions.

Work Settings:

Private Practices, school, and community settings.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
