Full Job Description

ABOUT US:

Melbourne Pharma is a new 10,000 sf state of the art compounding pharmacy located in sunny Melbourne, FL, just 10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean on Florida’s exciting Space Coast. We are currently seeking talented pharmacists in both dispensing and clinical services roles.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Staff Pharmacists manage and supervise all dispensing activities in the pharmacy.

ESSEBTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Must be capable of receiving new prescription orders orally from a prescriber or another person authorized by law.
Must be able to interpret clinical data effectively and understand the therapies in our product catalog.
The pharmacist is expected to directly oversee and supervise the activities of all pharmacy interns and technicians, ensuring all tasks are performed correctly and efficiently.
The pharmacist will retain both professional and personal responsibility for any task delegated to interns and technicians under their supervision.
Must review and verify all incoming inventory from wholesalers or distributors
Must accurately and promptly complete all required documents, forms, and reports as outlined in the company’s policy and procedure manual.
Must participate in the pharmacy’s continuous quality improvement program.
Must maintain the prescription department in a clean, safe, and secure condition.
Must maintain the required Pharmacy Licenses.
Responsible for confirming, clarifying, and verifying prescriptions
Contacting Prescriber office on prescriptions that require pharmacist intervention due to incomplete information
Managing queues to ensure timely processing of orders.
Consulting with patients or their representatives regarding drug or medical information to ensure they have all the necessary information.
Consulting with any prescriber or their authorized agent as needed.
Transferring prescriptions to and from other pharmacies or institutions when required
Conduct a final inspection of all packaged drugs before they are shipped to the patient.
Review and evaluate all prescriptions, ensuring the accuracy of the patient’s prescription record. This involves checking that the details on the prescription match those in the patient’s record.
Review and evaluate prescriptions for controlled substances to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. This includes checking E-force for all prescriptions in Florida.
Ensure that a Drug Utilization Review has been completed for all prescriptions before they are shipped. This review checks for potential drug interactions, correct dosage, and appropriate use of the medication.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of filled prescription orders.
Maintain control of the storage of controlled substances and log any medications being added or removed from storage.

QULAIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Clear and active pharmacy license issued by the State of FL Board of Pharmacy. Additional state pharmacy license a plus.
Have at minimum two (2) years of retail / community pharmacy experience.
Compounding experience a plus.
