Salary Range: $52,000–$62,000 annually
Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Escambia County, Florida (local travel required)

Position Summary: A Key Driver of Fundraising and Faith Partnerships

The Development Director is a key driver of fundraising success at Family Promise of Escambia, with a primary focus on cultivating and strengthening relationships with faith partners. This role serves as a bridge between the Family Promise mission and congregations, donors, and volunteers who want to support families experiencing homelessness.

The Development Director translates big ideas into meaningful impact by building trust-based relationships, leading fundraising efforts, and engaging faith communities in both financial support and volunteer service. Working closely with the board members and faith partners, this position ensures the organization has the resources and community support needed for long-term sustainability.

This role blends strategy, heart, and communication. It is ideal for someone who understands the unique role faith communities play in fundraising, volunteerism, and mission-driven work.

Core Responsibilities

Faith Partner Fundraising & Engagement

Lead fundraising strategies centered on faith partners, including congregational giving, special offerings, sponsorships, and partner-supported campaigns
Cultivate and steward relationships with clergy, lay leaders, and congregational champions
Create meaningful opportunities for faith partners to financially invest in the mission of Family Promise of Escambia

Fundraising Strategy & Campaign Management

Develop and execute fundraising strategies that support short- and long-term organizational goals
Lead fundraising campaigns from start to finish, including goal-setting, timelines, execution, and tracking results
Research and identify grant opportunities, prepare and submit proposals, and manage post-award tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements
Identify and implement opportunities to grow recurring giving and strengthen donor retention
Lead communications strategy in collaboration with the Board of Directors and interns, including oversight of social media, website management, and email communications to donors and volunteers.

Donor Development & Major Gifts

Oversee major gift efforts, with an emphasis on individual donors connected to faith communities
Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with key donors
Share compelling stories that connect donors to impact and outcomes

Volunteer Coordination with Faith Partners

Coordinate volunteer engagement with faith partners, including hosting, meal support, service projects, and special initiatives
Serve as a primary point of contact for congregations participating as hosts or volunteers
Work collaboratively with program staff to align volunteer efforts with organizational needs
Ensure volunteers feel valued, supported, and connected to the mission

Events & Community Engagement

Plan and manage fundraising and engagement events that bring faith partners and the broader community together
Coordinate logistics, volunteers, and follow-up activities to maximize engagement and support

Board Engagement & Collaboration

Work closely with board members to leverage their faith and community networks
Support board involvement in fundraising, congregational outreach, and donor cultivation

Donor Systems & Administration

Maintain accurate, organized donor and faith partner records in the organization’s database
Track gifts, volunteer participation, and engagement to ensure timely follow-up and stewardship

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience
Demonstrated experience working with faith-based partners or congregational networks
Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills
Experience using donor databases or fundraising software
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support faith partner events

Preferred

Experience coordinating volunteers
Familiarity with homelessness, housing, or family services
Experience working with boards of directors
Knowledge of the faith landscape in Escambia County

Compensation

Annual salary range: $52,000–$62,000, commensurate with experience
