DEPT OF HEALTH SERVICES

The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) provides inpatient psychiatric care to persons with serious mental illness who need long-term behavioral health care. ASH promotes hope and wellness for our patients and creates opportunities to participate in planning, delivering and evaluating services that assist with recovery. Treatment is individualized with goals that focus on education about an illness, instilling hope and improving one's overall quality of life. The Arizona State Hospital has a wide range of positions available, from our direct care staff, Nurses and Behavioral Health Technicians to Social Workers, Rehabilitation Specialist and Security to name a few. The Arizona State Hospital also offers 12 hour shifts for our Direct Care staff as well as some alternative work schedules, flexible hours for non-direct care staff. We offer a robust benefit package, including the ADHS Student Loan Assistance Pilot Program where eligible employees can receive up to $437.50 per month for their outstanding student loans. Job Summary:

This position will provide mail and property services to the Civil and Forensic Hospital. This includes all work related to patient, clinical staff and administrative mail and property services. This position shall pick up mail Monday through Friday (except Holidays), separates, X-Ray packages for contraband, completes all documentation and issue procedures to including update patient property logs. Provides as needed Courier services for inter-agency mail. Perform Security Control Room operations as required to support staffing and operational needs.

Job Duties:

Sort and collate incoming and outgoing mail following established processes for all incoming patient mail/packages.

Issue patient packages following established processes.

Conducts Courier duties as needed

Prepare and compile a variety of administrative assignments including work of considerable difficulty that must remain confidential.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

Postal system and mail procedures.
Courier Responsibilities.
Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.

Skill in:

Must have exceptional written/oral communication skills
Organizational analysts: word processing with a variety of software packages.
Skills also include analytical, interpersonal, communication (written/oral) and project management.

Ability to:

Communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse group of employees, patients, residents and community members.
Walk/stand for long durations while issuing mail and property to patients.
Recognize and identify contraband.
Resolve issues and concerns while maintaining positive customer relationships
Support a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community, promotes equal opportunity at all levels of public employment, and creates an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination

Selective Preference(s):

High School diploma or equivalent, previous mail room experience a plus.

Driver’s License
Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
