Position
Tramway Cabin Attendant
Summary
Responsible for operating the tramway from within the cabin. Supervise passenger boarding process and checking for valid tickets/passes. Provide public announcements for passengers in the cabins. Assist in daily opening activities including pre-operational checks, and light maintenance and cleaning in the cabins and stations. Must be willing to work at heights for training and evacuation purposes. Work shifts will vary and may include weekends.

Essential Skills, Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Operation of the tramway from within the cabin.
Supervise loading of passengers including providing assistance for passengers with special needs and checking for valid tickets/passes.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak fluently in English and make announcements to passengers for informational purposes and for emergency procedures.
Ability to identify unsafe operational conditions such as weather or mechanical/electrical malfunction and follow established protocols including evacuation procedures.
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, perform all safety and evacuation procedures and have cardiovascular endurance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. On occasion, the employee will be required to work and function safely at considerable distances above the ground.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a an outdoor environment and moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; enclosed spaces; outside weather conditions including wind, rain and snow; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
Performs required preoperational checks of tramway controls.
Log trip data including departure time, passenger count, material/equipment hauled, accidents, etc.
Assists in CPR/First Aid procedures when necessary.
Performs light maintenance and janitorial work including cleaning or cabins and stations.
Customer Service Responsibilities
All employees of the Portland Aerial Tramway are required to maintain a high standard of customer service. This includes greeting customers, answering questions about the tramway and O.H.S.U. facilities, helping customers that need assistance because of their age or disability, providing directions to customers, etc.

Education and/or Qualifying Experience
High school diploma or GED is required. Two years of supervisory experience and a tramway or ski area background are recommended. Must possess a valid Oregon Drivers License.
