Ophthalmic Technician

Location: Pueblo, CO 81008
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00-$21.50 per hour (pay is dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in Pueblo, CO. This role supports physicians by performing comprehensive patient workups, assisting with retinal procedures, and conducting specialized ophthalmic diagnostic testing. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, and is eager to learn and grow within the ophthalmology field.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient workups, including visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure measurement, pupil evaluation, and ocular history collection.
Conduct advanced retinal imaging and diagnostic testing, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), fundus photography, visual field testing, and angiography as ordered by physicians.
Prepare patients for retinal procedures and assist physicians during intravitreal injections, laser procedures, and minor in-office treatments.
Administer ophthalmic drops for dilation and diagnostic testing under physician supervision.
Accurately document patient histories, examination findings, and diagnostic results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Maintain examination room equipment, ophthalmic imaging devices, and clinical supplies.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.
Support physicians and fellow team members in delivering exceptional patient care.
Perform additional clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1-2 years of relevant experience in Retina, Ophthalmology, Optical, Medical Assistant, or CNA roles.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
Reliable, dependable, and able to keep pace in a busy clinical setting.
Willingness to learn, grow, and expand skills within the ophthalmology field.
Ability to travel occasionally to support clinic operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
