Reports to: Dean of Advising and Retention
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Career Services Specialist, student workers and part-time temporary employees for designated programs.
Job Summary
Oversees a complex organization with multiple functional disciplines/occupations, manages a program that has critical impact upon the campus. Significant responsibility for formulating and administering policies and programs, manages significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a very high degree of autonomy. Frequently influences business decisions made by senior leadership. Negotiates and influences others to understand and accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
Improve and increase student success through systematic coordination of career exploration, advising, development, and job placement. Work to develop and implement strategies to enhance career and life planning efforts, career coaching, career exploration, and career/job placement for students enrolled at Rock Valley College.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop strategies to meet specified career services, student job placement, internships, certificate and degree course progression goals and evaluation of progress in meeting program goals.
2. Tracks Career and Technical Education/Non-Credit program completers, graduates and leavers in job placement for statistical and funding purposes for the college.
3. Promote internship opportunities to students, match students to appropriate placements, and provide ongoing advising throughout their experiential learning experiences.
4. Coordinates on-campus interviews, Handshake job and internship postings/approvals, and promotion of opportunities to students
5. Develops and maintains partnerships and relationships with business, industry and non-profits for the purposes of keeping college programs current and vital as well as networking to ensure maximum opportunities for RVC students and alumni.
6. Establish measurable goals for student engagement, internship placement, outcomes, and employer partnerships
7. Create, maintain, and manage Salesforce CRM software that support internships, including tracking student participation, monitoring and evaluating job placement, gathering student and employer feedback, and reporting outcomes
8. Work with staff and faculty to design and maintain activities, collect and share student success stories, and coordinate events that connect students with potential employers for internships and full-time employment.
9. Oversee, manage, and revise annual budget, maintain expense records, make recommendations for budget revisions and prepare reports for submission.
10. Assists students with interviewing skills, resume writing, and business etiquette in the workplace
11. Performs job counseling with students to identify their abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job and career opportunities.
12. Represent on committees or at functions as directed by the supervisor; including appropriate Business Advisory Committee meetings.
13. Provide supervision and leadership for personnel as assigned. Includes hiring, evaluation and management of day-to-day activities.
14. Develop and write informational, educational, event, services and promotional material for distribution to students, college departments, and employers as needed.
15. Completes administrative reports and maintains student/employer files.
16. Makes presentations about college's programs as well as labor market conditions and trends
17. Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the program.
18. Serve as an administrator of all data systems and software used by the department. Provide statistical and qualitative reports internally within the department as well as preparing reports for employers, academic departments and other constituencies as necessary.
19. Collect and review alumni employment data to inform continuous improvement.
20. Develop and conduct workshops, seminars or classes relevant to self-assessment, Social and Emotional Learning competencies, job search skills and strategies.
21. Encourage faculty and department involvement.
22. Other duties as assigned.

1. Experience building and developing a teamwork environment, including collaboration with constituents outside the department.
2. Serve as the centralized college representative to the employment community. Set and establish procedures regarding recruitment; review legal and ethical issues in recruitment; recommend and evaluate policy decisions.
3. Strong experience connecting business and industry to education.
4. Knowledge and experience with supervisory and leadership practices.
5. Strong relationship-building skills and cross-organizational collaboration.
6. Must have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications.
7. Familiarity with electronic databases and third-party software that facilitates employment and career exploration.
8. Administrative, leadership, supervisory and organizational skills, with preference in higher education career services environments, with an ability to prioritize is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in student personnel services, higher education, counseling, adult education or similar program required or relevant equivalent experience, plus 3-5 years of experience including managerial experience. Background in Career Services and higher education highly desired. Project management experience preferred.
