About The Bridge

The Bridge Community Development Center provides person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We believe in restoring hope and modeling possibilities. Through our Prevocational Services program, we prepare young adults and adults for the world of work—one job skill, shadowing opportunity, and confidence boost at a time.

Position Summary

As an IDD Vocational Training Instructor, you will play a vital role in preparing participants for future employment. You will teach employable skills, lead job shadowing experiences, help participants explore career pathways through Job Discovery, and ensure that all supported employment documentation and coaching expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

Employable Skills Instruction

Teach workplace readiness lessons (e.g., punctuality, communication, hygiene, teamwork, professionalism, conflict resolution, etc.)
Utilize curriculum and hands-on experiences to build real-world skills
Support computer literacy and basic tech use (e.g., typing, job search, email, time clocks)

Job Shadowing & Community Exposure

Work with Job-Related Services Coordinator to identify local businesses open to job shadowing or vocational observation
Coordinate weekly shadowing visits and debrief participants after each experience
Ensure transportation logistics and supervision is provided
Document skill acquisition and workplace behavior

Job Discovery Profiles

Conduct discovery activities to learn about participants' interests, strengths, work preferences, and sensory/social needs
Complete a comprehensive Job Discovery Profile for each participant
Use the profile to shape shadowing experiences and future employment options

Participant Development and Documentation

Assist with job development activities
Support resume development and interview prep
Implement weekly Prevocational Service Activity Plans
Complete all documentation: IDD Service Notes, Evidence Binder entries, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in business, education, or social work or related fields
1+ years working with individuals with IDD or in employment support roles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with insurance

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
