Part-Time Worship Leader
Location: Mt. Hope, San Diego, CA
Compensation: $250/week
Schedule: Part-Time (Flexible. Shared leadership opportunities available.)

City Life Church exists to make disciples of Jesus by proclaiming the gospel, loving our neighbors, and serving the underserved community of Mt. Hope.
Our church family reflects the beauty and diversity of San Diego. Many of our members live in the Mt. Hope neighborhood, others travel from communities across the city. We represent a wide range of cultures, ethnicities, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds, united by one Savior. We believe heaven will be filled with people from every tribe, tongue, and nation, and we want our worship to reflect that reality today.

We're looking for a disciple-maker who loves Jesus deeply, treasures the local church, and desires to shepherd people into Christ-centered worship.
Who We're Looking For
Our first priority isn't musical talent—it's spiritual maturity.
We're praying for someone who is genuinely sold out for Jesus, loves His Word, and understands that leading worship is first about leading people to Christ, not performing on a stage.
The ideal candidate will:
- Love Jesus wholeheartedly and pursue Him daily.
- Be passionate about the local church and making disciples.
- Lead with humility rather than performance.
- Desire to invest in people both on and off the platform.
Our Worship Vision
Our heart is to build a worship ministry that reflects the people God has brought to our church and our neighborhood.
We're looking for someone who can confidently lead music rooted in:
- Black Gospel
- Modern Contemporary Christian Music (CCM)
- Congregational worship that is gospel-centered and biblically faithful
Because our church serves many Hispanic and Haitian families, the ability to lead or sing worship in Spanish or other languages is a significant plus. Our long-term vision is for our congregation to regularly worship together in multiple languages as a picture of the unity Christ creates.
Primary Responsibilities
-Lead Worship
- Lead worship during both Sunday services (9:00 AM & 10:45 AM).
- Lead vocally while accompanying yourself on guitar or keyboard.
- Help create worship gatherings that are Christ-centered, engaging, and congregational.
- Work alongside the Lead Pastor to plan songs, Scripture readings, and service flow.
-Develop People
We believe success isn't measured by how many songs you can lead, but by how many leaders you can develop.
You'll help:
- Train and disciple vocalists and musicians.
- Raise up future worship leaders.
- Mentor volunteers spiritually and musically.
- Build a healthy, humble worship culture.
-Weekly Rhythm
- Wednesday rehearsal (typically 6:00–8:00 PM)
- Sunday morning arrival by 7:45 AM
- Lead worship for both services
- Communicate with volunteers throughout the week
- Prepare charts, lyrics, and rehearsal materials
- Introduce new songs as appropriate
Qualifications:
-Spiritual
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ.
- Affirms the authority of Scripture.
- Supports the doctrine and mission of City Life Church.
- Teachable, humble, dependable, and servant-hearted.
- Loves people more than platforms.
- Has a heart to make disciples and invest in others.
-Musical
We're looking for someone who can:
- Lead worship while playing guitar or keyboard.
- Sing confidently and lead a congregation well.
- Lead Black Gospel and modern CCM with authenticity and excellence.
- Direct rehearsals and communicate clearly with musicians.
- Arrange songs and prepare chord charts.
Spanish-speaking or bilingual worship leadership is a major plus but not required.
Additional Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
Experience with any of the following is a bonus:
- Live sound engineering
- Planning Center Online
- ProPresenter
- Click tracks or in-ear monitoring
- Music production or songwriting
- Volunteer scheduling and team development
