Full Job Description

Objective: The Finance Director leads the financial operations and ensures the long-term sustainability of Saint Elizabeth Shelter and Supportive Housing. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Director bridges the gap between high-level financial strategy and day-to-day fiscal management. The Finance Director is responsible for the direct management, and oversight of the agency’s book of record, budget, financial and accounting systems, business-related policies and procedures, financial planning for the maintenance and repair of all agency physical plant systems and the coordination with development of the agency’s statistical reports on clients served and services provided.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

Financial Strategy: Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop long-range financial plans and sustainability models.
Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to align financial resources with programmatic goals.
Grant Management: Oversee the financial lifecycle of private and federal grants, ensuring rigorous compliance and accurate reporting.

Financial Operations & Reporting

Fiscal Oversight: Manage all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, monthly reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and executive summaries for the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
Audit & Tax: Serve as the primary liaison for annual independent audits and ensure the timely filing of IRS Form 990.

Compliance & Internal Controls

Policy Development: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to protect organizational assets and ensure GAAP compliance.

Risk Management: Monitor insurance coverage and legal compliance related to non-profit financial regulations.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA or MBA preferred).
Experience: 7+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a 501(c)(3) organization. Experience performing non-profit or governmental accounting preferred. Experience tracking revenues from diverse funding sources preferred. Effective written and oral communication skills
Technical Skills: Mastery of non-profit accounting software QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
Grant Savvy: Proven experience with fund accounting and managing restricted vs. unrestricted revenue.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
