Position Summary
As a Water Operations Supervisor at Mustang Special Utility District, you will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of potable water to our residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Your responsibilities will include supervising multiple groups that operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, valves, and heavy machinery, perform routine inspections, and address repairs to maintain the water system’s integrity and reliability. Your role is crucial in ensuring Mustang SUD maintains water quality and service reliability, ensures customer satisfaction, and adheres to regulatory standards.
Essential Functions:

Supervision and Leadership: Assign and oversee daily work activities, provide guidance and support to operators, resolve technical and operational issues, and ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with district policies.

Operational Duties: Provides operational oversight for water production and distribution treatment facilities. Supervises preventative and reactive maintenance for water production and distribution system. Participates in the development and administration of assigned budget, forecasts funds needed for equipment, materials and supplies, monitors and approves expenditures. Conduct routine inspections of water production and distribution facilities to ensure operational integrity.

Infrastructure Maintenance: Plans, organizes and oversees the maintenance activities of the District’s water production and distribution facilities. Evaluate the condition of water production and distribution facilities and equipment to recommend improvements. Participate in the development of short and long-term maintenance plans.

Training, Coordination, and Customer Support: Train and mentor operators, support career development and licensing requirements, coordinate with other departments and contractors on maintenance activities, and provide professional communication and customer service to the public.
Safety and Compliance: Operate water system in compliance with TCEQ, EPA and local water quality standards. Maintain all reports and documentation. Stay current on hazard awareness, emergency procedures and best practices. Ensure operators are carrying out tasks within safety requirements.
Qualifications
Education:

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
Required:
- 5 years of water production operation and/or maintenance experience.

TCEQ Water Operator B License or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Preferred:
- 7 years of water production operation and/or maintenance experience.

TCEQ Water Operator A License.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Indoor and Outdoor Setting: You will primarily work in an outdoor environment, utilizing standard equipment such as power tools, hand tools, pumps, heavy equipment, trucks and trailers. Handling chlorine cylinders and other treatment chemicals. Involving physical activity such as walking, climbing and handling the equipment.
- Schedule: Must be able to work outside of regular business hours to meet regulatory deadlines or respond to emergencies. This includes working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays. Will also be subject to on-call rotation.
- Safety Gear: Consistently wear protective gear such as safety shoes, safety vests, gloves, and hard hats to ensure safety during fieldwork.

Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).

Must acquire Class A CDL within 1 year of employment.
