Overview:

South Bend Orthopaedics (SBO) provides specialized care for all musculoskeletal surgery and orthopedic rehabilitation patients, as well as those suffering from work-related and sports injuries. Founded on the principle of providing excellence in orthopedics, SBO has been serving the needs of the northern half of Indiana and southern Michigan since 1947 and functions as the Orthopaedic Surgeons for The University of Notre Dame Athletics Department since 1949. Services include joint replacement, sports medicine, upper and lower extremity surgery, pain management, diagnostic imaging, physical and occupational therapy. Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Job Summary

Responsible for answering calls, retrieving faxes, scanning, maintaining, and responding to inquiries for patient records.

Essential Functions

Receives calls from patients, physician offices and requesting entities for patient records.
Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.
Copies records upon request and responds to requests for protected health information as allowable by law.
Fills out necessary paperwork for FMLA and disability.
Scans needed material into patient records.
Answers phones in pleasant manner, deals with patient (customer) needs expeditiously.
Purges obsolete files from storage for destruction per department guidelines
Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of one year office experience, preferably one year of medical records experience.

Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medical software/office equipment desirable.

- Computer and typing skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience with medical terminology is preferred.

Min: USD $16.88/Hr. Max: USD $20.00/Hr.
