Burgess Game Room Attendant
Pay Rate:
New Employees: $10/hour
Returning Employees: $11–$13/hour (based on experience and performance)
Position Overview
The Game Room Attendant at Spartanburg Methodist College plays a key role in delivering fun, safe, and inclusive recreational experiences for the campus community. This position supports the Office of Student Engagement by monitoring the Game Room and attending to student requests and needs in the Game Room and Involvement Closet.
Key Responsibilities
Game Room Monitoring
- Monitor the Game Room and flex space and report behavior that violates Game Room Rules or suspicious behavior to the Director of Student Engagement, and use the Incident report form provided in the manual. Monitor areas for hazards and report incidents to supervisors.
- Keep high-use equipment, including but not limited to pool stick chalk, pool sticks, ping pong balls, paddles, and other items, in stock from the closet.

Perform routine checks of equipment and facilities and inform supervisors of maintenance needs. Report any damage, broken equipment, or safety concerns to the Director of Student Engagement promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and promote community among students.
- Work with other student workers and staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive game room experience for all students.

Take ownership of creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive recreation environment.

Host and assist events in the game room for students under the leadership of SMC Staff.
- Monitor usage of the space and equipment to help staff build data on the space’s engagement.
Involvement Closet Management

Assist Students with checked-out games, retrieving them from the closet as requested, and making sure that they are returned when the student leaves.

Assist in the maintenance of a clean and organized involvement closet, regularly resetting the space after events and check-outs.

Assist staff in the setting up of events as needed, delivering supplies from the Involvement Closet.
